Paint Your First Digital Landscape using Corel Painter (Udemy.com)

Of the 7 sections for this course, 1 at the end is about landscape art, and a very poor one at that. Not a good course.

Its a good course, I learned a lot. But you don't paint the picture the course is advertising. You paint from a different picture. Its a nice picture but I wanted to paint that sunset advertised.

I have a couple other Corel courses and they did the same thing there. So, buy it for the information just don't expect to paint what's advertised... Unfortunately.

The intro repeated itself a little leading me to wish the tutorial would get going.... but once it DID get going, it was good!

Ok... where to begin.

If you watched the first 3 portions of the video tutorial, you pretty much know everything you are going to learn... the rest 90% of the course is the same thing over, and over... and over. You probably know everything that will be contained in this video series if you've seen any other of his videos.

It isn't until section 6 that he finally uses a pen (not a mouse) and even that is short lived. I highly recommend going to youtube instead of paying for this (I received these videos as part of a bundle deal when buying Corel Painter 2017).

Corel could have picked a better, more proficient user of Corel Painter.

I did not learn anything more than what he has taught on any other of his video series. Utter waste of money.

I am a traditional artist who knows basics of photoshop etc. This course is not aimed at artist who want to pursue a traditional approach using digital media. For example, I would have loved to see a simple project done from start to finish using say water color brush or oil or pastel etc. and follow along as the teacher simulates real life via the digital. The topics that the teacher covers are done very briefly and not in depth at all. The course could be improved by having simple exercises through out each module/topic. Simple exercises like maybe rendering the same geometric object or scene several times but using a different media for each rendation. This could then build up onto a start to finish painting of a very simple landscape where canvas size, resolution, paper, choise of media and its specific challenges or opportunities all explored etc

Badly named - It's an ok course, but it's basically a quick introduction to Painter. It's not until the very last module that he actually (and only briefly) talks about painting a digital landscape. Everything else is a beginner's introduction to the program itself - most of which I already knew!!

I am a beginner user of Corel Painter and this is the first course I have taken on it. This course was helpful and has given me a lot of things to explore.

However, it did go a wee bit fast for a beginner.

Also expected the instruction to be on the image that is shown with the course name.

Very useful, good examples, lots of encouragement to do this on my own and practice. The method was both practical and theoretical, and the instructor explained many topics which had been vague to me previously.

Good course.

The image used to promote the course should be involved in some way. If you would like to teach us how to paint a landscape, then show us that, not how to manipulate a photo. Have some consistency in what you're doing and showing us. Any time you need to do something that will take time, show us a small section of what you're doing and then time lapse the rest so we can still observe the process. The final piece is not something I would consider putting up for sale or purchasing.

Takes a little while to get into some "meat". This is a bit more of an Overview course.
