Course Description

Hi, I'm Dmitry Lisenko, and welcome to my new Foundry course, Percussive
Acoustic Bass. This course is an introduction to the wonderful world of
percussive bass guitar!
By understanding the core concepts, you'll be able to replace whole
rhythm section in acoustic concerts, acting as a bass player and drummer
at the same time. Also, it's an incredible way of exploring your bass
at home, for solo playing, covering songs arrangements, and just for the
joy of playing! It will open a whole new dimension in your composing
and change your understanding of the rhythm section.

All exercises and information given here is to demonstrate the most common
approaches and techniques used in percussive style acoustic bass. It's
the first step in discovering rhythm section abilities for bass players.

This video course will be beneficial for musicians of any level, starting
from complete beginners to most advanced players. You'll need an
acoustic bass to fully benefit from the course, but many techniques and
tips can be applied on electric bass. I'm sure after watching few videos
you will want to get an acoustic bass for yourself. It's also very
handy for practicing at home, as you don't need any amplification.

At the moment of creating this video, such course is a first of it's kind
for bass players. You've found very unique school with a fresh and
innovative approach. Welcome to the world of percussive bass!

“It’s better to be a good street cleaner than a bad musician.”

I’ve been playing bass guitar since I was 16 years old, but that’s a piece of advice that stands out to me.  It wasn’t just any advice, though.  It was criticism from a teacher as I was rejected from a music school.  It was my first feedback from a professional. But it was far from the last.

Since then, I’ve performed across Europe and released a solo album of original compositions.  I’ve won several bass guitar competitions, including the 2015 Russian Bass Player Competition, and I’ve appeared at festivals like the London Bass Guitar Show, Bass Day St. Petersbourg, Bazzday 2016 in Moscow and the Warwick Bass Camp.  My work has been published by the likes of Ultimate Guitar, Candyrat records, ibassmag, NoTreble, Bass The World and many others. I started out busking on the street, later I’ve studied bass guitar at London Music University.

I’ve signed endorsement deals with Warwick and Gallistrings.  I've been actively performing, touring, and recording in with bands in all possible genres of music.  I created a community for acoustic bass guitarists, I’m a member of Bass Players United, and to top it all off, I started  “Karmafree” together with my wife.  Through all those experiences, I’ve brought my own unique style and approach to my instrument.

I guess it just goes to show you: some people just aren’t meant to be street cleaners.

It’s a great course. I’m a beginner so struggled a lot more than I anticipated but it is worth it.

sim, é que esperava.

By Hector Alvarado on 2/11/2020

Je crois qu'il ne développe pas trop la technique. Bien expliquée la technique mais pas très découpée. Pour moi il manque un peu de développement pour la comprendre mieux je crois.

By John Hayworth on 12/3/2018

I am finding the course instructive and distance learning allows me to learn at my pace.

Dmitry Lisenko explains things so clearly that learning anything related to the bass is possible with him, even if you are the poorest of students!!!

By Bastian Sawalt on 8/28/2018

Es werden sehr vielseitige Techniken in einfacher und deutlicher Weise erklärt. Dmitry Lisenko gibt hier eine große Einsicht in seiner einzigartigen Spieltechnik.

Mi sarebbe piaciuto avere qualche esercizio complesso in più. Per il resto tutto ok!
