This is a great course for anyone needing to understand the pfSense firewall system. It was well worth both time and money. The presentation of the instructor was very professional, well thought out and the demonstrations were extremely relevant and easy to follow. -- David S. ★★★★★

Hats off Ted, The instructor Ted made it become very easy for someone to learn. By the end of the course i feel very happy and ready to continue learning and keep practicing what I've learned from you. -- Hermann S.F. ★★★★★
Excellent overview, and quick initial setup of pfSense. Good coverage on mentioning you can set it up in monitor mode to observe your traffic for a few weeks, after basic rules are in place; then review the logs to put in place any remaining necessary rules. I've studied firewalls before; but first foray into pfSense. I like it. -- Kevin S. ★★★★★

I am new to pfsense and for training I had been looking at blogs and youtube videos before joining course. This was a great entry level course and it was nice because it was mostly built on each step to higher more detailed levels. I definately will use the instructors course on pfsense for now and in the future resources. I also likes that he was diligent to add pdf docs for reference ass in times of need, watch a whole video is not user friendly, but looking through a chapter pdf with search features is much easier.

I learned a lot in this training. However, ! am not satisfied of the tutorial/ training for pfBlockerNG. I am expecting more on pfBlockerNG configuration like blocking specific websites, porn sites and more but I felt quite disappointed not to get that skills from this training. That is the reason why I enrolled with this lesson to learn more on pfBlockerNG. Hope you can give me a complete tutorial for pfBlockerNG. Thanks

Pretty good if a little disjointed e.g. why do we have to create two linux mint VMs and two ubuntu VMS which do the same thing. These have been clearly patched together and not reviewed as a complete course. Also, some of the material is out of date and needs refreshing but in a way this adds to the excitement by getting you to go out and finding the solution yourself.

Awesome Course! I learned a lot. The Instructor really knows how to expose the Subject, and he Speaks at a Speed Easy to Understand! Look Forward to more Courses from this Instructor! Plus he was in the NAVY just as I was! I was a TM3 in the U.S. Navy, Outstanding Work! Bravo Zulu!

This is a great intro course, I've enjoyed it and the information provided is very valuable for me. Exactly what I was looking for. This course is not for a complete beginner though, as it does not covers fundamentals of networking (what is IP address, what is UDP, why TCP, and so on...). However, it wasn't hard to google for info, that I had no knowledge about to fill-in the blanks. Theo is very knowledgeable, and for me 1.25x speed was perfect to watch lections. After this course, I've ordered netgate device and planning to apply this knowledge to my home pfSense firewall.

This course was great! I tried installing Pfsense on my own before taking this course and felt lost. After taking this course I feel must more confident in the basics and navigation. I will say it really helps to have some kind of networking experience and also exp. with changing network settings on VMs and such but the instructor does a nice job of demonstrating this. I do hope there are more in-depth courses and real-life use cases on this in the future.

A very good course that I'll definitely recommend to anyone who wants to start to get involved with Pfsense. Content is very well layout also very well presented and the instructor speaks at a steady pace and it's easy to understand. I have to mention also that the instructor had a quick response to my questions. Thank you Ted! P.S. I'll be glad to participate in an advanced -going deeper- pfsene course (e.g. Snort fine tunning, OpenVpn, IPsec, proxy, NAT reflection & loopback, Radius & 2FA etc) that you may present.

Mostly a configuration of pfSense walkthru, with detailed menus to traverse for a basic setup with Snort or Suricata threat prevention. Networking knowledge is a prerequisite, so it does not walk you thru Vlan setup, something I missed. But it provides DMZ setup for a website under the firewall, should you need that. Overall, this is a good practical hands on. It works: I did set up my firewall with the course. The pace of language is posed; it helps to take notes. And there are pdf files to go. There is no suggestion about the network card needed (a must for Free BSD), to build a home appliance to learn and try in the real. But the suggestion of Netgate hardware is made. Understandably, the course rather use VirtualBox machines labs. With this course, I did it with pfSense. And it makes a lot of sense to prefer pfSense to any commercial router for home or small biz I tried up to now. The quality of support of pfSense is amazing. The pfSense Book is in itself a must read. There is a strong community around that open source project. I should have made that step sooner, it would have saved me time and worry.

This an excellent course, i started knowing nothing. Now I am no longer the one i was before starting and every topic is well organized. Ted makes you feel the day to day activities, this not a simple course. Hats off Ted, The instructor Ted made it become very easy for someone to learn. Congratulations, you're an excellent instruction, the PDF materials are great. By the end of the course i feel very happy and ready to continue learning and keep practicing what I've learned from you.

Great overview of PFSense product and capabilities. I liked the approach of providing some background context on firewalls and how they work and then going through the exercises to apply the theory. Using a virtualbox scenario was a great training approach to get used to the interface of PFsense. Will be checking back more as I think Ted will keep adding more content soon. Thanks Ted
