Course Description
I'm challenging you to a different mindset on how to perceive the visual world around you. We're in an inflation of images today, so how can you make a difference?
What won't be part of the course is yet another discussion about the camera and technical specs. It won't be about rules and techniques, how to use the camera and all that blah-blah, because you already know that.
We're going to talk about your position in Photography. How to not only to evaluate yourself, but to use instinct and your cultural background in order to take photographers that MATTER. I believe THEORY is more important than PRACTICE at this point.
On the completion of this course you will be able to:
Create a relationship with your subject (from a person to a landscape, it can be anything)
Know when is the right time to press the shutter and why
How to stop the overthinking and start seeing the world around you
How getting closer to the subject make your photographs alive
The harmful effect of laws and composition rules and how to create your own rules
Understand how to analyze photographs
Get into the right mindset
We'll start knowing more about photography without the camera. That's right!
What makes a good photograph and why? This seems to be the most important question most photographers don't know how to answer. I'll show you how simple it is to understand the process and it use for any future photograph you see or take.
You will get to know what photography actually is. We will study the studium and the punctum and how they influence our perception, how to train the mind to work without the camera, how to know when is the right moment to take the photograph, and how rules block you from finding your own personal style.
This theoretical course is cooperative. Meaning that I propose you a different way of thinking as an exercise, and then you apply it by using your intuition and see what results you get. And then we move on until you start to see the difference.

Since we're here...
A bit about myself
I believe a place can reveal more than itself. It can reveal something about you. It can be about a mood or an action. It can be still or a reaction. I'm talking about the images which stop time. Images that absorb you. Every place in this world has a story, but how will we decide to tell it?
I'm Norbert Fodor, a romanian cinematographer currently based in Asia. I've graduated my BA and MA in Cinema and worked on national and international projects, TVC, Fiction, Music Videos, Ads.
I've always been interested in images and got my first camera when I was seven. Since then I couldn't forget about it, so it became more than just a profession. It became a way of thinking and living. My love for cinema and photography is eternal, and I am constantly trying to deconstruct it and see what makes it alive and ticking.
A personal note on this course
The internet is an inflation of information. That's how I got lost and that's how you probably did too.
On this journey I found that the most rewarding experience is showing the secrets and mechanisms to people who are searching to ride through it. I hope you will find this information useful and use it to teach others too.

I can see this is going to be a wonderful match. This course will not only teach me what is a "good" photograph, but also WHY I decided to take the photo in the first place.

Not what I was expecting at all. This was a more of a philosophical class then an actual practice class.

Probably one of the best classes ever on photography. Very hard to find important perspective. Has greatly enriched my knowledge and skills.

The course is very theoretical. I think it needs more practical examples.

A fantastic philosophical approach to the art of photography! This is a true Master Class to the visual word and reality around us. The course enlightened my ways to see the photography and the World. Thank you so much for this amazing course!

It's very philosophical and I like this but not sure that it accurately reflects the title of the course. However by the end of the course I really really loved what the instructor tried to do, and it is truly about creating artistry and different from having a rule book for composition. It has inspired me to read more, and to see the nature of photography with fresh eyes.

Not so far. Not at all on course subject matter. Also, the points made within each segment often is incorrect or the instructor contradicts himself.

I was looking for learning about photography. However, I found something else, that is deeper than just technique or good practices. I felt I found a friend and a master in my way to learn. I haven't finished yet this course. But what I found till now will be valuable for any other learning experience I might have. Thank you!

Whether you are an amateur or professional photographer, this course is full of very good advice. It breaks down photography into pieces and then skillfully puts it back together along with explanations. Photography is art, and it should be done no differently than any other of its forms.

Norbert is amazing. Although young there is a lot he can teach you and the course takes you through the basic and the advanced skills needed to start your journey into photography. Had a lot of things put into perspective by this course. Very applied and calculated.
