Course Description

In this class, you will learn absolutely everything necessary to land a job as an entry level PLC technician (engineer, etc.).

We will cover basic topics such as what a PLC is used for, how it is able to receive and process Inputs & Outputs. We will take a much deeper dive with hands on labs and practice sessions during which I will give you specific real world scenarios to work with and give you tips and common pitfalls. These lessons are designed to strengthen your knowledge of PLCs and give you an edge during interviews.

At the end of each section, you will face a quiz which will allow you to test yourself on the material you have learned before moving to the next section. As some one who has administered interviews to PLC technicians, these questions are crucial in making sure that you've understood the material presented.

What are the requirements for the class?

  • You don't need any hardware or software to follow the lectures, however, it is highly recommended to get some practice before going into an interview. If that's not possible, I would advise spending some time working with an emulator and browsing through data sheets and manuals which will be presented to you in the course.

My experience taking this course was very positive. The content was well-structured and easy to follow, and it matched my learning goals well. Although I am a mechanical engineer with some industry experience working with PLC and SCADA systems, I found the explanations clear and practical, which helped me strengthen my understanding of the material effectively.

THE COURSE EXPLANATION BY THE TUTOR WAS AVERAGE. FOR BIGINNERS, IT MAY BE SOMEWHAT DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND AS MANY BASIC CONCEPTS WERE NOT CLEARLY EXPLAINED. THE FUNDAMENTALS WERE NOT COVERED PROPERLY, WHICH MADE IT HARDER TO GRASP THE OVERALL SUBJECT. I EXPECTED A MORE STRUCTURED AND BEGINNER FRIENDLY APPROCH, BUT UNFORTUNATELY, IT DID NOT MEET THOSE EXPECTATIONS.

I have a M.sc degree in energy, where we learned a little about the PLC and SCADA, and how it was connected to the real world. But that was about it, expect for a little hand on experience with a Siemens PLC block. After end education, i felt in the job description, that i needed more experience with the field of plc to get a job. Thats why, i am taking this course and so far, it is very understandable and have good examples of why the PLC is important.

This course covers a variety of topics and prepares you to program an Allen Bradley PLC, create an HMI and even integrate a Cognex Vision system. There are many examples and if you follow along, you could go from not knowing anything about PLCs to making your first program.
