Course Description

Ready to master Polkadot blockchain development with Substrate? You've come to the right place!

Blockchain technology is the most disruptive force in years - and disrupting even blockchain technology itself is Polkadot. Polkadot is the step above other blockchains because it’s the blockchain that combines all other blockchains together and allows all other blockchains to communicate with each other. At the moment there are thousands of different blockchains, and the fact that Polkadot is the first to combine them all is a huge competitive advantage. This mean Polkadot is growing exponentially despite being so new, and makes it likely to reach mass adoption.

Large tech companies and start-ups alike cannot hire developers who understand blockchain technologies fast enough, but there are so few resources published to help you truly understand what blockchains are used for, let alone build apps with them.

That's the purpose of this course: to be the best resource online for learning about Polkadot, the blockchain, and how to build apps with these cutting-edge technologies.

By the end of this course, you’ll:

- Be an expert Polkadot developer and even create customised blockchains with Substrate

- Be proficient at creating your own decentralised applications from scratch

- Make millions from NFTs? Build a decentralised version of Uber? Create your own bank? Up to you!

In this course you'll cover:

- What the Polkadot blockchain is, how it works, where Substrate plays a role, and why the combination of Polkadot and Substrate is so incredible

- Deep dive into Polkadot development using Substrate and Rust

- Full projects that will solidify your skills in writing dapps (decentralised apps), building your own fully customised blockchains, creating reusable pallets, and more

If you want to take advantage of the cutting-edge Polkadot blockchain while it’s still new and rapidly growing, this course is for you. All you need is some programming experience and knowledge of how blockchains work in general.

What is Polkadot?

Polkadot is a blockchain network. All the other blockchains are separate from each other and operate in isolation. What Polkadot does is combine all the blockchains into one network, which means that blockchains on Polkadot can communicate with each other while still retaining blockchain-specific characteristics. Polkadot is fast, secure, cost-effective, eco-friendly, and even supports *smart contracts* which are pieces of code that run on the blockchain, and which can replace your bank/real estate agency/ticket selling company/accountant/witch doctor. These factors combined make Polkadot poised to overtake both Bitcoin and Ethereum in popularity and adoption. What's more, is that Polkadot comes with Substrate. Substrate is a developer toolkit that makes it easy to create brand new, fully customised blockchains that run on the Polkadot network.

This course is about a year out of date with regards to the links for associated repos and how this is done now. Udemy should pull this course and reinstate it once its been brought up to date. I've spent so long trying to hack my way around the packages to keep up.

Short, quality, precise, to the point. Really good job done

le ton est bon, le rythme, la clareté... tout est bon. Et je suis très excité par le sujet ;-)

Very interesting course with valuable instructions at each step; The detailed objectives before each chapter really allows the mind to clearly picture where we are and where we are moving ahead in our learning journey, which, at the end of the day, builds a very structured basic knowledge in our mind. I found the explanations well balanced between the complexity behind the scene and the simplicity of what we are handling. It would have been great, in the smart contract part or in pallet more generally, to see more in depth how several pallets interact together, read and write shared value of the runtime, but I do understand that for a starting course, some choices need to be done to allow smooth technical and conceptual immersion into this new world. Thank you so much for this, I recommend it 100% and am looking forward to a more advanced one substrate/polkadot (I find too few ressources on Udemy of that quality as what you provide ! Kudo !!!)

It's good, but could have more detail on where to find the information on the official documentation, what channels are available for support, and more detail on using not just the local nodes, but how to use the official testnets, like Westend and Rococo, and how to create a Parachain.

By Kosawat Sukchaya on 12/23/2022

As of December 2022. "Section 12: HANDS-ON - Configure the contracts pallet" must be updated. - DefaultContractAccessWeight was removed from pallets_contracts. - Package "pallet-contracts-rpc-runtime-api" was also not found. By the way, overall course is good, I really like the theory parts and your explanation during Hands-On sections.

By Alex Borovoy on 12/22/2022

The course is very weak, the author simply reprints the documentation from the official site, it seems that the author himself is poorly versed in the topic, you will not become an expert, you will not even have any knowledge, more than a welcome page. I do not recommend this course to you.

We need more tutorials like this. We need a tutorial that creates something from 0. Thank you!

This is an excellent resource for learning how to develop on the Polkadot network. The course is well-structured and easy to follow. It covers all the basics of Polkadot development, from setting up a development environment to deploying smart contracts. The instructor is extremely knowledgeable and provides clear and concise explanations. I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in learning Polkadot development!

By Phillip J on 11/10/2022

Comprehensive and clearly explained. A really good resource, thanks.
