Don Giannatti
Don Giannatti has been a photographer for more than four decades. Starting with a desire to do fine art photography, he quickly made the jump into commercial. Over the decades he has owned studios in Phoenix, New York, Chicago and LA. A wide range of clients kept him shooting everything from studio product to fashion, beauty and travel.
With a preference for photographing people and still life, Don feels that lighting is the most important part of the image making process. Understanding the light and how the subject reflects the light helps photographers visualize the image before starting the shoot. This “subject centric” approach to light is what he teaches and is the subject of much of his writing.
He has authored three books for Amherst - all currently available at Amazon.com (keyword Don Giannatti).
Don current maintains a studio in Phoenix, teaches workshops all over the world, and writes for the online Photography magazine, Lighting Essentials (www.lighting-essentials.com)

I appreciate every bit of lesson and effort put in them because there are hours and hours of video, the only reason I don´t give 5 stars is because I felt I was not learning too much from the webinars or post-processing sessions as I did from the actual practical lessons on lights use and position. Thanks for sharing. Keep the good work up.

Not only did I learn about simple lighting for portraits, and that I can do this with my small budget, but I picked up many tips and tricks on using Photoshop to bring out elements in the photo that I knew were there when I took the shot, but were not there in the RAW image, and I had no idea on how to get the image to what I saw when it was captured. Thanks Don !!!!!

This is an excellent course. I have enjoyed reading Don's comments on Flicker several years ago. As well as reading his books and articles on Lighting Essentials. He is very good at explaining what he is doing through out the video. I was glad that Don spent a good deal of time in post processing. I also watched his free course How to use a Light Meter, another excellent course.

so far, it seems like all relevant information, but it's very basic. I am hopeful that the program will get into some more advanced material as we get further into it.

The course was extremely useful in understanding the application of light in portrait photography, both indoor and outdoor. It was really helpful in taking you from initial setup, to taking the pictures, and then how to tweak the final photograph in Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop. I believe I have learnt a great deal with this course, and the tutor's enthusiasm, just makes you want to practise what you've learnt.

Great approach to lighting. Enjoying the courses very much. There is always more to learn no matter how much I think I already know about lighting. Have a book of his in my library and pretty cool to see him live. The course has so much to offer and is a tremendous reference that can be turned to again and again.

Don shows how to do a portrait from start to finish and includes his own style to show how you can make the shot "yours". There is a lot of material here and it definitely takes more than one "go" to take it all in. His final shots are beautiful and if you can emulate him you'll be doing well.

All of the courses presented by Don Giannatti are very INFORMATIVE! His intent is to express the very elements required to take and make an amazing shot! I would say that the best way to evaluate the information is to go out and shoot. I did and it was AMAZING how I could recall some of the course material which resulted in a better photograph. This is the best money I've spend on photography training and I look forward to registering for all of his course offerings on UDEMY!

I have been a huge fan of Don Giannatti work of how he use simple gears to take beautiful shots as the expensive gears others use. Videos was very easy to understand with out scratching my head. He was willing to answers questions asked and even added more information classmates wanted to see. Love love his photoshop tutorial. Actually leaned some nice quick tricks to pop my photo more. Overall very nice class and worth investing into.
