PowerShell from Beginner To Sheller And Scripter (Udemy.com)

As someone who's used PowerShell for a long time in a copy & paste fashion without much understanding, I found this a really good introduction to what's actually going on and it gave me a solid foundation to be able to use it better. Some of the lessons were mostly quite basic to someone who knows other programming languages, but it's a beginner's course so that's to be expected, and even if I knew the concept before, there always seemed to be some gem that made me think "Oh, that's worth knowing". Overall an excellent course- appreciate the odd cheesy joke too!

Have had infrequent experience in command line. update 1: I have completed 24% of the course so far and i am thoroughly impressed with the ease of learning. Practice both during lessons and again during the lab is making PS second hand. It is very fun and rewarding to see quick feedback of successful growth.

Excellent professeur. J'ai bien aimé le cours mais il n'était pas tout à fait adapté à mes besoins. Le cours ne mentionne pas qu'il faut être admin du poste de travail. Utilisant celui de mon travail, plusieurs exercices ne peuvent pas être réalisé comme ouvrir un prompt en admin. Personnellement, je trouve que PowerShell remoting en entreprise n'est peut-être pas une méthode sécuritaire d'administrer des postes de travail. La plupart des exemples montrent à coder comme en C (while, for) à la place d'utiliser les pipelines. Ça crée donc de mauvaise habitude dès le début du cours. J'ai du faire beaucoup de rework de mes scripts dernièrements car la performance de mes requêtes laissait à désirer.

Yes you learn something about PowerShell, but I think it's way to basic. With your ActiveDirectory lessons you clearly aim for IT professionals, for which I think it's just a small introduction. Many topics are streched so much and blown up with Intro/outro and stuff, which sometimes takes 20% of a lessons time. It's called from Beginner to Scripter and the final-Endproject Script is a simple copy script. And the shown solution does not try to show best practices or further ideas.

I am at lesson 15 now and I understood EVERYTHING. My goal was and is to learn PowerShell for Azure. Azure is not discussed here, but as the instructor says as long as you know how to use PowerShell conceptually then it does not matter what you use it for. Definitely right because I was experimenting with Azure and PowerShell and using these instructions I knew what to do :). I am looking forward to the scripting part but have some lessons to go

I liked that it was not just videos, but labs that built on eachother throughout. I like that he teaches you about how to find help, and how to find out what will work (and what won't) when you are building a script or pipeline for commands. Also I like that there is an appendix for setting up the lab environment so you can work the exact same thing as he is. Very well constructed course and I would recommend it for a beginner,

This course will give you a solid introduction to writing scripts in PowerShell. This is just a beginner level, so don't expect topics related to PowerShell 7 and later. Also, this course does not use Visual Studio Code. I highly recommend this course to anyone who has never used PowerShell and wants to get familiar with it. Additionally, you will cover some topics related to Active Directory, PowerShell remoting, and virtual machine environments.

By Far I think this is one of the best courses out there to begin learning scripting. I really enjoyed the content and wish you will have the same experience. Although there was some content on how to use remoting and server management but not enough if you could add more slides. Elseif (lol) you have something you can refer I would love to know. I really enjoyed this course. David is nice and he explains everything well and friendly. The classes are well paced and the exercises are the best part for me! Davis always explains what he have to do, and encourages us to it ourselves. And then, after you've solved (or tried to) it's nice to watch the solution. It's a great course for beginners to learn and practice.

If you're coming in with no PowerShell experience and you really want to start using PowerShell for work, this course is great. David is an excellent instructor. I just got into a systems admin role with zero PS experience. I was very impressed with how much content this course contained. It does a very good job of laying out the fundamentals, so I actually understand how PowerShell works, and goes well into how to use PS for actual tasks that come up on a day-to-day basis. Using only this course, and the resources it points to on the internet, I've been able to write scripts that I'm already using to make my job easier and more consistent! And I'm comfortable getting into more advanced scripts as my job progresses.

So far so good, seems a tad bit more complex than bash scripting.
I wish the volume was louder.
