I've been writing code for 15 years. In that time I've worked for massive scale companies like Amazon, led teams scaling startups from 0 to >1b @ Lessen, and was the lead instructor at Hack Reactor in Phoenix.
I love technology and love sharing my passion with others. I hope my courses help you grasp difficult topics and advance your career.

I enjoy the fact that the examples and scenarios given are realistic and easy to comprehend so it makes each session easy to follow and understand without using parrot fashion

Excellent instructor! Speaks at a good pace. Explanations are clear, logical, and understandable. Exercises are thoroughly explained, simple, but also relevant. I like that he starts from the foundations and gradually adds complexity. Highly recommend.

Great course for beginners — clear overview of PostgreSQL concepts with practical exercises to reinforce learning. However, it would be even better if query descriptions or sample query files were attached, especially for the examples mentioned during some lectures.

I took it as a SQL refresher. Really good introductory course, going from simple to advanced queries. I'd like to see some content on window functions as an alternative to subqueries. Another thing missing are indexes and explaining queries. Also, using types such as SERIAL, VARCHAR, and TIMESTAMP is no longer recommended. Refer to "Don't Do This" in Postgres wiki.

Great course if you already know some SQL and need a solid refresher; can be a bit too fast for absolute beginners. The exercises although quite challenging, prepare you for the real world. In addition, the instructor goes thru them well.

This was very useful for getting started with SQL and getting up to more intermediate/advanced usage. Note the instructor often tends to skip over important details as you follow along so you have to do a little extra digging in the materials to find what you need (see the Q&A for the code on github). He says this is by design, though, because he wants you to get used to thinking more critically as you go along.

This was not a good fit for me because I am way more advanced than this class. However, when I was starting out this would have been a great place to start because it is clear and to the point. Each section is a nice length.

I'm about half way through and am really enjoying it. This is mostly because the concepts are really well explained in detail and plenty of practice for each concept and it doesn't feel difficult or boring. Pace is just right and the teacher takes time to explain each concept and give examples to work along with. Troy is a very good teacher, explains concepts in a clear and understandable way. Some people have a knack for teaching, this guy has it. Good course. Recommend.

I have completed the course and like to refer back to it from time to time. Troy is an excellent teacher and explains things in a way that are easy to understand the first time. From going from very much a beginner in postgres to building a complex system to automate my business troy gives the foundation to become proficient in postgresql
