Our take

Based on the ratings of 920 students and a sample of their written reviews, as the course stood in February 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.

This is a companion practice test for the ANS-C01 exam, built by Stephane Maarek and Abhishek Singh, not a standalone lesson course. There's no video content, just two practice tests worth of scenario questions with written explanations and links back to AWS docs. The dossier lists it as intermediate level, and the course itself says it's meant to be paired with Maarek's full "AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty" course rather than used on its own.

Reviewers who passed the exam credit the questions with getting them close to the real thing, and several say the explanations with AWS doc links helped them understand why an answer was wrong, not just that it was wrong. The complaints cluster tightly: several reviewers say the exam bank feels thin next to other AWS practice test bundles that offer three or more full tests, and a chunk of reviewers say specific topics are missing or stale, DirectConnect SiteLink, IPv6, VPN, MACSec, Network Firewall, CloudWAN, container networking, Gateway Load Balancer. A few call some question wording vague or the explanations too brief to show exactly where their reasoning went wrong.

At 4.3 stars across 920 ratings, it's solidly liked but not without friction, and the coverage gaps are the real issue since AWS keeps revising this exam's blueprint. Last updated in early 2026, so it isn't abandoned, but reviewers into late 2025 were still flagging missing scenarios. Worth adding to a study plan as a final gut-check once the core material is covered, not as your only prep, and go in expecting a smaller question bank than bundles built around three or four full exams.

Best forAnyone who finished a networking specialty course and wants exam-style drilling before test day.
Skip it ifYou want several full-length exams or haven't studied the core networking material yet.

Pros

  • Questions written from scratch with AWS-doc-linked explanations, not generic filler
  • Co-authored by Stephane Maarek and Abhishek Singh, who together hold 20 AWS certifications
  • Multiple reviewers report passing the real exam shortly after using it
  • Explanations include diagrams and links to primary AWS documentation

Cons

  • Reviewers say the question bank feels thin next to bundles with 3+ full exams
  • Reviewers flag missing topics: Network Firewall, DNSSEC, CloudWAN, container networking, IPv6
  • Some explanations are too brief to show exactly why a wrong answer was wrong
Finally Passed the Advanced Networking exam. The actual exam difficulty is little more than this practice exam but this really helpful to understand the concepts.

SAMPLE QUESTION

An e-commerce company has its technology infrastructure deployed in hybrid mode with applications running in a single AWS Region as well as its on-premises data center. The company has a 10 Gbps AWS Direct Connect connection from the data center to AWS that is 70% utilized. The company wants to deploy a new flagship application on AWS that will connect with existing applications running on-premises. The application SLA requires a minimum of 99.9% network uptime between the on-premises data center and the AWS Cloud. The company has an AWS Enterprise Support plan.

Which of the following options would you recommend as the MOST cost-effective solution to address this requirement?

  1. Purchase another 10 Gbps Direct Connect hosted connection through an AWS Direct Connect partner in a different Direct Connect location that terminates in the associated AWS Region. Set up a new virtual interface (VIF) to the existing VPC and use BGP for load balancing

  2. Purchase another 10 Gbps Direct Connect dedicated connection from AWS in the existing Direct Connect location that terminates in the associated AWS Region. Set up a new virtual interface (VIF) to the existing VPC and use BGP for load balancing

  3. Purchase two new Direct Connect hosted connections of 5 Gbps each through an AWS Direct Connect partner. Provision two virtual interfaces (VIFs) to the existing VPC on both Direct Connect connections and use BGP for load balancing. Terminate the existing 10 Gbps Direct Connect connection

  4. Purchase another 10 Gbps Direct Connect dedicated connection from AWS in a different Direct Connect location that terminates in the associated AWS Region. Set up a new virtual interface (VIF) to the existing VPC and use BGP for load balancing

What's your guess? Scroll below for the answer.

Correct: 4.

Correct option:

Purchase another 10 Gbps Direct Connect dedicated connection from AWS in a different Direct Connect location that terminates in the associated AWS Region. Set up a new virtual interface (VIF) to the existing VPC and use BGP for load balancing

AWS Direct Connect is a cloud service solution that makes it easy to establish a dedicated network connection from your premises to AWS. Using AWS Direct Connect, you create a private connection between AWS and your data center. AWS Direct Connect is compatible with all AWS services accessible over the internet, and is available in speeds starting at 50 Mbps and scaling up to 100 Gbps.

There are two types of Direct Connect connections:

Dedicated Connection: A physical Ethernet connection associated with a single customer. Customers can request a dedicated connection through the AWS Direct Connect console, the CLI, or the API.

Hosted Connection: A physical Ethernet connection that an AWS Direct Connect Partner provisions on behalf of a customer. Customers request a hosted connection by contacting a partner in the AWS Direct Connect Partner Program, which provisions the connection.

You can use local preference BGP community tags to achieve load balancing and route preference for incoming traffic to your network. For each prefix that you advertise over a BGP session, you can apply a community tag to indicate the priority of the associated path for returning traffic.

The following local preference BGP community tags are supported:

7224:7100—Low preference

7224:7200—Medium preference

7224:7300—High preference

Local preference BGP community tags are mutually exclusive.

A Virtual Interface (VIF) is necessary to access AWS services, and can be either public, private or transit, like so:

Private virtual interface: A private virtual interface should be used to access an Amazon VPC using private IP addresses.

Public virtual interface: A public virtual interface can access all AWS public services using public IP addresses. A public virtual interface enables access to public services, such as Amazon S3.

Transit virtual interface: A transit virtual interface should be used to access one or more Amazon VPC Transit Gateways associated with Direct Connect gateways. You can use transit virtual interfaces with 1/2/5/10 Gbps AWS Direct Connect connections.

Exam alert - You should note the allowed VIF types for the various configurations of Direct Connect connections:

I would like that explanations (correct and wrong answers) could be more precise and more occurate. No need to have long extracts from the course however we need to know why our reasoning is false when there is a wrong answer

By Giuseppe Rinaldi on 10/27/2025

I cleared finally my exam at the second attemp, this course helps practising with networking stuff, but it did not really help me out. This course missed of : DirectConnect SiteLink, IPv6, VPN, MACSec, Network Firewall, and CloudWAN scenarios.

Hello. I took my certification exam last Friday and passed it on first try. I could pass it mainly because of these courses : AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty 2024 - https://www.udemy.com/course/aws-certified-advanced-networking-specialty-ans/ (this one) Practice Exam - AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty - https://www.udemy.com/course/practice-exam-aws-certified-advanced-networking-specialty/ Thanks Abhishek for sharing your knowledge in a way that makes complex topics look easy. Thanks Stephane for all your work with AWS courses. It's the third certification that I pass thank to them. Best regards.

Great content! Very useful to review the answers for each questions, there are several links to AWS reference documentation explaining in depth each answer.

By Markus Sankari on 4/25/2023

I'd like to be able to faster see where I was wrong. In this exam It takes seconds to find the explanation and even then I need to do some thinking to interpret what is said. For example, had I answered wrong to question N, I'd like to see explanation such as: "You answered B, it is wrong because X is not Y".

By Anonymized User on 3/25/2023

Not updated with questions on new topics such as Gateway LB, EKS networking, etc. Would also appreciate more questions for the Networking certification. Only 1 exam is a bit weak, especially compared to other certifications where we have 2 or 3 full exams to prepare ourselves.

By Jes Nielsen on 7/11/2022

Scored horribly the 1st time I took the Udemy practice test .. learned a bunch from that wakeup call and the test/answers, studied hard for a few days .. went and took the official cert and passed easily with 45min's left.

By Philip Adams on 6/16/2022

Great practice exam. The questions covered most of the subjects in the exam. Some of the questions where even very similar to the actual questions I had in the exam. Passed the exam 1st time, highly recommend. I hope you update this for the new Exam changes in July 2022

By Brian Engert on 5/22/2022

The questions are similar to the real test. Every question has a long explanation of the question and answer. There is also about a paragraph for each wrong answer and why it is wrong. I found this practice test a lot better than the a cloud guru practice test for the advanced networking cert.

By Mirus Lu on 3/18/2022

The course contents definitely prepared me well for the ANS-C00 exam. The contents reflected the difficulty of the exam well -- the exam actually felt easier than the practice tests in this course actually!
