SAMPLE QUESTION:
You have migrated an on-premise SQL Server database to an Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) database attached to a VPC inside a private subnet. Also, the related Java application, hosted on-premise, has been moved to an Amazon Lambda function.
Which of the following should you implement to connect AWS Lambda function to its RDS instance?
Use Lambda layers to connect to the internet and RDS separately
Configure lambda to connect to the public subnet that will give internet access and use Security Group to access RDS inside the private subnet
Use Environment variables to pass in the RDS connection string
Configure Lambda to connect to VPC with private subnet and Security Group needed to access RDS
What's your guess? Scroll below for the answer.
Correct: 4.
CORRECT OPTION
Configure Lambda to connect to VPC with private subnet and Security Group needed to access RDS - You can configure a Lambda function to connect to private subnets in a virtual private cloud (VPC) in your account. Use Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) to create a private network for resources such as databases, cache instances, or internal services. Connect your lambda function to the VPC to access private resources during execution. When you connect a function to a VPC, Lambda creates an elastic network interface for each combination of the security group and subnet in your function's VPC configuration. This is the right way of giving RDS access to Lambda.
INCORRECT OPTIONS
Use Lambda layers to connect to the internet and RDS separately - You can configure your Lambda function to pull in additional code and content in the form of layers. A layer is a ZIP archive that contains libraries, a custom runtime, or other dependencies. Layers will not help in configuring access to RDS instance and hence is an incorrect choice.
Configure lambda to connect to the public subnet that will give internet access and use the Security Group to access RDS inside the private subnet - This is an incorrect statement. Connecting a Lambda function to a public subnet does not give it internet access or a public IP address. To grant internet access to your function, its associated VPC must have a NAT gateway (or NAT instance) in a public subnet.
Use Environment variables to pass in the RDS connection string - You can use environment variables to store secrets securely and adjust your function's behavior without updating code. You can use environment variables to exchange data with RDS, but you will still need access to RDS, which is not possible with just environment variables.

Great practice exams. It gave me the right feel of what to expect at the exam. More or less the same difficulty with what I encountered at the exam. A pity that I didn't get to finish all the exam practices, but the ones that I did really did help me a lot.

I have taken 4 practice exams out of 6 available. The questions were quite close to what I have encountered during the real DVA exam, though I did feel that the real exam questions were more robust and there were less straightforward questions. I did not like that some of the questions did mention services that are marked as `out-of-scope` on the exam information page.

Brilliant! I completed Stephane's Ultimate AWS Certified Developer Associate 2026 DVA-C02 course and worked through these practice exams, and I passed my test on the first try, with a mark of 91%. These exams really helped me prepare and I would recommend it for anyone who wants to get certified.
By João Guilherme Hagemann on 3/25/2026
After taking Stephane's course completely at least four times and preparing for the DVA exam for the past 4 months, retaking the mock exams numerous times and having an average of about 85%, the questions I was faced with at the actual exam were very different from what I practiced. This needs a complete overhaul, however I was surprised to have passed with a score of 794

The main problem is questions on the exam are completly different. No even as single question was the same. This prep does not give you best preparation for the exam. It do not cover few aspects which were asked during exam. I need to unfortunately look for some other set. Exam date 25th March 2026. Authors should review all questions and update these. During exam there were many more questions related to development practices , deployment etc. very few about infrastructure, which unfortunately was common in prep exams

This course is a must-take for anyone looking for high-quality practice sets. I practiced these questions before my exam, and they played a significant role in helping me pass with a score well above the passing mark. The explanations and question quality were excellent. I'll definitely be taking more of Stéphane's courses in the future.

This course was well worth it, since these questions most accurately mirror the questions on the Certified Developer Associate Exam. And one of the absolute best features was explaining every answer, backed up with documentation and diagrams (and even why the wrong ones were wrong)! I passed the exam yesterday with an 853, no doubt thanks to this excellent course!
By Aliaksandr Branavets on 1/21/2026
I scored 75-82% on these practice exams and passed the real exam with 815/1000. The actual exam questions were different, but the question structure and format were very similar, which helped me a lot. Highly recommend doing all 6 practice exams before the real test.

I'm still practicing for the exam, and I am grateful for this opportunity. One thing, the Practice Test #3 has an outright incorrect answer and reasoning (the question: "An intern at an IT company is getting started with AWS Cloud and wants to understand the following Amazon S3 bucket access policy:"). The correct interpretation is: "This policy denies all S3 actions on the Production bucket only when MFA was used more than 30 minutes ago. Requests without MFA or with fresh MFA are allowed"

Overall, thank you - it was a good practice! Two things to mention: Some of the wordings (sentence/word order) were difficult to understand. Also, I wish the tests in this course did not contain same questions as the practice test in the main Ultimate AWS Certified Developer Associate 2026 DVA-C02 course. I think these questions biased the results of these practice tests a bit.
