Quality speaks for itself
SAMPLE QUESTION:
A company manages multiple AWS accounts through AWS Organizations. Users currently access the accounts by using IAM users and long-term access keys. The security team has introduced a new requirement that all access to AWS accounts must use temporary security credentials that expire after 60 minutes. The company also requires users to authenticate through a SAML-based external identity provider before they can access AWS accounts.
Which solution should the security engineer recommend?
Create an IAM federation setup in each AWS account separately by using SAML providers and directly map the external users to IAM users in each account with 60-minute console sessions
Configure AWS IAM Identity Center with the external SAML identity provider, assign the required permission sets for account access, set the session duration to 60 minutes, require users to obtain AWS CLI credentials through IAM Identity Center, and remove the IAM users from the AWS accounts
Configure AWS Secrets Manager and Amazon Cognito in each AWS account, create a Cognito identity pool that uses the external identity provider, store account access secrets in Secrets Manager, and require users to call `get-secret-value` from the AWS CLI to access the AWS accounts
Enable AWS IAM Roles Anywhere in the organization management account, install the credential helper for all users, configure IAM roles with a 60-minute session duration, and require users to use the helper to retrieve temporary credentials for AWS account access
What's your guess? Scroll below for the answer.
Correct: 2.
Explanation:
Configure AWS IAM Identity Center with the external SAML identity provider, assign the required permission sets for account access, set the session duration to 60 minutes, require users to obtain AWS CLI credentials through IAM Identity Center, and remove the IAM users from the AWS accounts
AWS IAM Identity Center is the native AWS service for centralized workforce authentication and authorization across multiple AWS accounts. It supports federation with an external SAML identity provider, account assignments through permission sets, and controlled session durations. This directly matches the requirement to use a SAML-based IdP and temporary credentials that expire after 60 minutes.
This option also removes the long-term IAM user access model, which is important because the requirement explicitly states that users must no longer rely on permanent credentials. By using IAM Identity Center, users obtain temporary credentials after authenticating through the external IdP, including for AWS CLI access.
This is the most scalable and operationally efficient choice because it centralizes access across the organization, uses native AWS federation features, and avoids maintaining IAM users and access keys in each AWS account.

Incorrect options:
Create an IAM federation setup in each AWS account separately by using SAML providers and directly map the external users to IAM users in each account with 60-minute console sessions - Direct SAML federation in each account can work, but it requires separate per-account configuration and does not provide the centralized access model needed for an AWS Organizations environment. This option also incorrectly refers to mapping external users directly to IAM users. The more scalable native AWS pattern is to use IAM Identity Center with permission sets, not per-account IAM user mapping.
Configure AWS Secrets Manager and Amazon Cognito in each AWS account, create a Cognito identity pool that uses the external identity provider, store account access secrets in Secrets Manager, and require users to call `get-secret-value` from the AWS CLI to access the AWS accounts - Secrets Manager is used to store and retrieve secrets, not to provide AWS account access sessions for users. 'get-secret-value' retrieves stored secrets, but it does not authenticate users into AWS accounts. Amazon Cognito can federate identities for application users, but it is not the right service for centralized workforce access into AWS accounts in this scenario. This option uses the wrong services for the problem.

The practice exams match the real one very well, but are a bit more difficult. The real exam has a few more easy questions where you just read the scenario and identify which service or feature is needed. The explanations of wrong answers are also very thorough. I've gone through all but a couple of practice exam sets from these instructors and think this is one of their best.

Scored an 855 on the actual exam. These practice questions are a must but don't directly represent the real test — they help you think through the material at a deeper level. My scores across attempts were 35, 45, 66, and 72. The progression speaks for itself. Read the actual AWS documentation tied to every question you get wrong — don't be lazy about it, that's where the real learning happens. Only reason it's not a 5 star is some questions were just dumb. 10/10 would still recommend.

I took the exam today and was able to pass with a score of 794/1000. I remember that there were many similar questions from this problem set. I used it together with the question set "[2025] AWS Certified Security Specialty Practice Exams SCS-C02 | Exam-Style Questions and Realistic Exam Simulation". I recommend that you use this together for reference.

I passed the AWS security specialty certfication successfully last week and scored 862/1000. thanks a lot for your practice exams. its helped to validate my understanding and take exam with full confidence. actually these practice exams are bit more complex than the orginal exam. anyway its helped me to differentiate the different options.

The style of questions are similar to the exam, and the explanations referenced really explain and answers. These are also backed up with references to key reference material. The practice exams clearly demonstrated my weaknesses and after reviewing the reference material filled gaps in my knowledge. I really this resource was the reason I passed.

The practice tests have various mistakes, such as CMK is "Customer Master Key" vs. "Customer Managed Key". Some of the questions a open to interpretation on what it means for a customer to manage the key material...that could infer that they want to manage it all and not use CloudHSM. A few other questions, are so every edge cases which, once again, depending on the meaning in the scenario description could evaluate to more than 1 correct anser.

I just took my Security exam and passed on my first try. I used mostly Stephane's lectures and watched some Youtube videos. For practice, I used Stephane/Neal Davis/and Jon Bonso. I started with Jon Bonso's practice exam to cover all the areas first, then I used Stephane's tests to truly test my knowledge as his exams are usually more difficult compared to all other practice exams out there. Then, i used Neal Davis's exam to do a final review as his exams are easier in length, but the quality of the subjects he covers is outstanding. And for those who complain that Stephane's exams are hard for no reason, you are wrong. The real exam questions were just as long and confusing. But if you covered his lecture slides (MEMORIZE) well, you should be okay.

Good questions. Answer selections were excellent, they tested whether you have had hands on experience as opposed to simply memorizing a lot of facts. Explanations were also excellent, thoroughly explained correct choices and usually did same for incorrect ones. I will not suggest that this product alone is sufficient to validate readiness for the exam. However, if you read question scenarios and possible solutions very carefully when using this product and when taking the exam, that procedure might assist in answering a least a dozen tricky questions correctly. I could NOT give a 5.0 rating because TOO many of the questions are repeated. I really expected UNIQUE questions.

Hello Stephane, thanks for putting this course together, yesterday i received the sad news that i failed the exam 706/1000. I had put in just 1 week of study for the videos and slides, unfortunately due to ill health i couldn't prepare well enough and i couldn't reschedule my exam because i had already moved it twice. What can i do to determine more easily what the question is asking depending on the use case?
