Course Description
This is course designed to take you from beginner to expert in probability and statistics. It is designed to be practical, hands on and suitable for anyone who wants to use statistics in data science, business analytics or any other field to make better informed decisions.
Videos packed with worked examples and explanations so you never get lost, and every technique covered is implemented in Microsoft Excel so that you can put it to use immediately.
Key concepts taught in the course are:
Descriptive Statistics: Averages, measures of spread, correlation and much more.
Cleaning Data: Identifying and removing outliers
Visualization of Data: All standard techniques for visualizing data, embedded in Excel.
Probability: Independent Events, conditional probability and Bayesian statistics.
Discrete Distributions: Binomial, Poisson, expectation and variance and approximations.
Continuous Distributions: The Normal distribution, the central limit theorem and continuous random variables.
Hypothesis Tests: Using binomial, Poisson and normal distributions, T-tests and confidence intervals.
Regression: Linear regression analysis, correlation, testing for correlation, non-linear regression models.
Quality of Tests: Type I and Type II errors, power and size, p-hacking.
Chi-Squared Tests: The chi-squared distribution and how to use it to test for association and goodness of fit.
Much, much more!
It requires no prior knowledge, with the exception of 2 optional videos at the end of the continuous distribution chapter, in which knowledge of calculus is required).

After finishing my studies at Oxford University I worked for a year in India before moving to London, which is where I have been ever since.
I have taught mathematics in some of the best performing schools in the country for over 10 years, where I have taught all levels of school maths, including GCSE, A-Level, Further Maths and Oxbridge entrance paper preparation. I also have 1000's of hours of tutoring experience working one-to-one with students on A-level maths and further maths.
Alongside this I have worked with businesses to train their staff in mathematical skills, such as statistics, data analysis and mathematical software packages.
Away from my work I love music and long-distance cycling, and recently cycled from London to Istanbul.

i enjoy most sections of the course and learnt more because they had quizez atached to each topic in the section but from section 10, the instructor removed the quiz and made the course fel more like a movie instead of hands on practical like the others. now i can tell you that i dont really undrstand or know 1. Regression 2. Quality of tests 3. Chi-Squared Tests

This was a really good course. It had a good balance of conceptual and mathematical explanations for a introductory course. My purpose in taking the class is to expand my knowledge into safety engineer where the aggregate probability of failure is something that I'll need to clearly understand. This is the first university like class I've taken since 1997, and my first on line course of any real length and substance. I really like having the lectures recorded... wow, I can hit the pause and rewind!! Paired with ChatGPT for some Q and A to help me through some of the parts that were uniquely confusing to me, I'm really excited about it. I'll follow this up with the Udemy engineering reliability course. Woody's presentation with blackboard video in the background (for visual communication) and Woody's video in the foreground (for body language communication) was very effective. Woody obviously practiced the presentations because they flowed very smoothly and linearly! Loved the introductions with mind maps showing bubbles with various concepts and a brief explanation of why each was important. Woody also added a little of his own personality and style which made the presentation much more personable therefore easier to listen to for longer sessions. I enjoyed his (English?) accent and (English?) expressions. I'm not a probability and statistics expert yet, and so I can't comment on the technical accuracy, but from 28 years of engineering experience and still kind of a newbie on this topic, Woody covered many of the questions I had accumulated in the back of my mind over the years and did it in a very digestible way. His presentations were consistent with what I was seeing on ChatGPT... but put together much better. If you look over the outline, see that it covers topics you want to hear about, and you are a beginner, you'll come away with a much better understanding then what you started with. Also, if between Woody's recorded explanation and a little ChatGPT you are still confused, Woody is very responsive to questions to the instructor. Nice job Woody and thank you! :)

Me gusto que tiene varios ejemplos, esta informacion no la vi en la universidad. La forma de explicar me parese buena porque realmente te explica de donde vienen las formulas y como aplicarlas a la vida real con ejemplos no tan basicos

I would like to thank the lecturer for the effort and time dedicated to preparing and delivering the course. The topics are interesting and clearly relevant to engineering practice, and I appreciate the work that has gone into organizing the material. However, if most lectures rely mainly on online tools or the application of Excel functions as black boxes, without explaining how to compute or derive the values, they can feel more like exercises than lectures. As an engineer, I prefer studying problems through detailed analysis and step-by-step derivations. Since class time is limited and many topics must be covered, it would be extremely helpful if the lecturer could provide more detailed notes or documents that explain the underlying derivations and reasoning. This would support students who wish to develop a deeper conceptual understanding. Alternatively, recommending textbooks that aligns well with the course content, comprehensive yet not requiring mathematics beyond the standard engineering curriculum, would also be greatly appreciated.

Highly recommend this probabilities & statistics course! It's full of practical, real-world examples and covers a great range of topics. The instructor, Woody, is excellent—he's very responsive and helpful with questions. A top-tier course for anyone looking to get a solid grasp of statistics.

I was looking for a course that would show me how to use excel for statistics for a work project that originally was using minitab. I have done some statistics when I was at school, but that was a long time ago, so this course was a great refresher and most importantly it's shown me how to use the "tools" I needed to do what I wanted to do. This is a very good hands-on course teaching practical skills through very informative videos and great exercises and quizzes. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Outstanding course! Woody gave very clear explanations and examples. I especially liked the quizzes and Excel exercises. They were interactive and kept me involved. The Excel worksheets already had the data entered, so I could use Excel to perform the exercises without the drudgery of data entry. The quiz answers also gave feedback on the reason an answer was wrong instead of just saying correct or wrong. This simple feature helps you learn from mistakes. One thing that might be useful is a final exam or final quiz covering the entire course. By the time I got to the end of the course, I felt like I had forgotten some of the things I had learned earlier in the course. Overall, I highly recommend this course!

It's actually amazing. This course helped me a lot, the information was made clear and easy to understand. This course still has some errors in some prior videos but it's not a problem. I am very very satisfied with the course. Thank you very much, instructor Woody!!

wonderful in- depth dive into statistics. excellent instructor. can't cruise.to get the most, better work out problems ,and enjoy the learning process. self-contained course material does not require anything additional.
