Project-Led Editing in Da Vinci Resolve Beginner to Advanced The link to the project zip file is dead. I contacted the instructor for help but have not received any reply after several days. I also tried to contact Udemy but they provide no help link that is usable for course content issues and the email that they use does not allow any incoming email messages from customers.

This is a fantastic course. The material provided alone would justify 5 stars. The course is as good as his other color grading course (that I have also finished). It is a lot of work but you will also learn a lot. I could always follow step by step as everything is organized and clearly explained. The only small issue I have, but that is not the teacher's fault, is that the development is so fast and in the last few updates of Davinci Resolve many things have been added that would probably simplify/change the illustrated workflows. Nevertheless a great course and I hope there will be more courses from the teacher in the future (something like Fusion or Fairlight or just a few hours on how the software updates could improve the workflow).

This is probably the best online course I've ever done. There is a lot here, it feels like a semester length course in college there is so much. But as you follow along with Matthew editing, you become an editor, seeing how to put video together and make decisions for the best edit. Certainly, I expected to learn the tool and by the end, I was easily using all kinds of keyboard shortcuts and tricks. But I really wanted to try to learn the art of editing and while I can't say I'm totally there yet, I feel that I can do a serviceable job. And of course experience will help. Thank you Matthew for your surehanded teaching using your dry British wit and exhibiting your professionalism. There were many times when I felt like it was good enough, but you said, "well, not quite, let's tweak it a little more" and it prodded me to do a more professional job. If you want to learn to edit using Resolve, THIS is the course to take. I can't wait to start the color grading course next. Daryl

I've been meaning to sink my teeth into video editing and color grading for quite some time now. As good as some of the other courses were, I noticed that you often had to rely on your own footage, or assets that didn't make a lot of sense to only mechanically understand what Resolve would function and work as. That isn't the case here at all. I really admire the effort behind Matthew's course here. I'm sure it must have taken a lot of convincing to get permissions for all the takes we're using. But it's immensely appreciated. I'm able to learn by practice here, and with good material no less. Excited to get into the second pass of things. It's been a great journey so far. And here's to seeing it through with just as much fun! :D

The software is explained in detail. I haven't finished the course yet and I already know a bunch of things I didn't know. And I have some experience with DaVinci. The downside is, the information is too much oriented for film making and the context (and some methods) are useless for people who use the Resolve like me, that is, to combine and color grade entire footages, not small clips to make a movie. Altough the context is very different, I am trying to extract only usefull information for me. The Good: explained in detail, good easy to understand british accent, very methodic and clear in explanations The Less Good: goes too much into areas not needed / required by most of us (I mean, how many of us are actually directors or making movies with actual actors)

What an incredible course. Bravo! So far one of the best courses I participated in Udemy. A course that does not stand with the basics, but everyone raises a professional level in dealing with video editing with Davinci Resolve. At the instructor you realize right from the start that he seems to be very routinely to be teaching. He knows what he has to explain at any time and what he will take more on it later. It is a great amount you learn here, so it is helpful to make regular notes, as the wealth of information is otherwise difficult to remember. However, the hand by a few small film projects can be trained in profi-proof workshops. In addition, there is not only a few insights over the workflow in the film process itself, but also, according to which perception criteria, the individual film snippets are best put together. Although it is a lengthy work to replicate the individual work steps of the instructor on his own computer and attracts the already very extensive course even further in length, but thereby get a tremendous security when dealing with Davinci Resolve. Now I hope that the Falcner will put his announcement into action as soon as possible and offer more courses on the two program parts Fairlight and Fusion.

I enjoyed the content of his projects. It seemed more professional with real world application in contrast to the most popular davinci course available on Udemy. The instructor seemed to dwindle off once we began the audio portion and the cut page which he made blatantly clear he was not a fan of should have been omitted. Other than that the lessons I learned in the edit page were phenomenal and Im looking forward to continuing my education on the corporate video he says is coming up as well has his color correcting course which I will be taking next.

Knowledgeable presenter with an entertaining style that wasn't over the top. This course took a different approach to most, in that to me it is essentially killing two birds with one stone - teaching Resolve, but with the primary focus on performing an editing job, with the software playing second fiddle as the tool. Still learned a lot about the program that I missed in other more Resolve-specific courses though! The approach meant that I did feel the course got a bit bogged down towards the end of Section 5, where the lessons were all pretty similar (again, because the course was performing a specific job). However, besides that - and the odd bit of editing that could've been done to clean up some footage inadvertently repeated, as well as some presenter self-corrections and mutterings - I enjoyed the course and look forward to the next modules being added. I really like the idea of it being an ongoing and evolving thing, with new added modules being promised over time. Well done - a great experience, all things considered!

I thoroughly enjoyed taking this course. I had already purchased Matthew's colour grading course and I was very satisfied with his teaching style and delivery. I purchased this course as soon as I discovered it and I have no regrets. If you're looking at efficiently working in the Edit panel of Resolve this course is for you. I'd recommend this course to beginners as well as for people who have been using Resolve for a while but have had no formal training in the software. I'm looking forward for the additional content which the instructor has promised he'll be adding in the coming months. One thing that I personally feel that can be improved is the PDF document containing the keyboard shortcuts. It currently only has the shortcuts introduced in the earlier part of the course. However, there are many keyboard shortcuts that are introduced later on which could also be added to this document.

My ambitions are far away from being a professional video editor, just wanted to get the basics to cut some family videos as a hobby. I learned way more things than expected: how to organize my media files, basic concepts of how to shoot a video, efficient workflows and much more. and of course how to cut a video. The quality and speed of talking is perfect and it's easy to follow along. All the concepts are covered in depth, sometimes even a bit to much, but I guess that's what you get from a professional perfectionist as Matthew seems to be. Highly recommend this course for all Davinci Resolve beginners.
