Our take
Based on the ratings of 140 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in December 2018. No course pays to be reviewed.
Eduonix's Electron course is a five-project walkthrough: a Pomodoro clock, Tic Tac Toe, a weather app, a BMI calculator and a currency converter, built over 45 lectures and about 5 hours. It is labeled intermediate, and the one stated requirement is basic JavaScript. In practice it suits people who know a little JavaScript and have never wired a web page into a desktop window. Around 21,000 students have enrolled, and the 4.0 average from 140 reviews reflects a course that does what it says, but not much more.
Reviewers like the clear, unhurried explanations, and one says the setup section alone is enough to get going with Electron. One enjoyed the history lesson in the intro. The complaints are sharper. Two-star reviews say the course is really about writing small single-page web apps, with almost no Electron API beyond the starter template. One student called the title misleading. Another said the coding style is pre-ES6 and that most of the JavaScript walkthroughs could be cut. One wanted a database or CRUD project, and a 2022 review calls the apps too basic.
The last update was December 2018, so expect older Electron versions and older JavaScript habits. This is a short, light course: it gets a JavaScript beginner to a working desktop app, but reviewers say it stops at the starter template and never goes further into Electron's own APIs. Recommended only when the price is low and the goal is a gentle first taste. Anyone who already writes modern JavaScript should pick a course that goes deeper into Electron itself.
Pros
- Setup section gets a first Electron window running quickly, which even a two-star reviewer calls clearly explained.
- Five finished mini projects, including two that fetch live data from an API.
- Explanations are slow and detailed, which JavaScript newcomers say made the logic easy to follow.
- Short at about 5 hours and 45 lectures, so it fits into a weekend.
Cons
- Most lecture time is spent on plain JavaScript logic, with little Electron API beyond the starter template.
- Last updated December 2018, and one reviewer calls the coding style pre-ES6 and outdated.
- No database, storage or CRUD project, and the apps are described as too basic.
Well explained (enjoyed the intro/history for context) and the examples clearly tackle the core concepts to get up and running in developing a fully functional electron app.
Listed as intermediate, but it fits JavaScript beginners; anyone comfortable with ES6 will find the Electron content thin.

Course Description
A complete hands-on, project-based
course to help you master the brilliant Electron Framework in an easy
and efficient way!
Traditional programming and coding are not only time consuming but also frustrating, especially with the different platforms that are currently one the market. This is why frameworks are a boon for developers who want to develop apps and websites for multiple platforms.
Electron is one of the most popular framework for designing and developing cross-platform and cross-browser apps that are dynamic and interactive in nature. The best part is that people don’t have to learn multiple different languages, as apps and websites can be built in Electron using JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
Electron was originally developed as a shell for the Atom Editor and from there has evolved to become one of the most popular cross-platform frameworks on the market. Electron allows the development of desktop GUI applications using front and back end components originally developed for web applications. It also serves main GUI framework behind several notable open-source projects such as GitHub's Atom, Microsoft's Visual Studio Code source code editors and the Light Table IDE. It allows building cross-platform and cross-browser apps that run exactly the same even in the future.
If you want a hands-on resource to help you learn how to start building your apps in Electron, well then we’ve got just the course for you! This is a project-based course will help you bridge the gap between theory and practical to help you understand both and actually get you started building apps with Electron.
In this course, you will learn what is Electron, how to install the system and set it up. From there, you will learn exactly how to use Electron by actually building five different projects with it.
Five Projects covered in this course:
-
Pomodoro Clock: Learn how to build a complete clock from scratch, as well as how to set the timer logic, and integrate sounds as well as add multiple clocks.
-
Tic Tac Toe Game: In this project, you will design the game board, add the Xs and Os and add notifications to your game.
-
Weather App: In this app, you will learn how to integrate an API and get it to fetch data from another source. You will also learn how to gather data from the internet and how to display that data on the app.
-
Currency Converter: This will also include using an API, and you will learn how to actually create conversions from one currency to the other.
-
Body Mass Index: In this app, you will learn how to calculate the BMI by using a person’s weight and height. You will learn how to add calculations to your logic in this app

Practical and concise, but one caveat, Javascript dominance it is a must condition.

With this course, I completed couple of free courses as well. The way of teaching is amazing. You will even get the lifetime access for the courses.

The Instructor completely understanding the engineering of electron applications. Genuine full guide clarifies doubts, with no surge and covering essential perspectives. I recommend it

This course is incredible as a genuine course and this coure is exceptionally exact, extremely relevant to this present reality and of extraordinary esteem. Extraordinary data, truly feel like I am following alongside all the data
By Hamza El Hablouj on 7/1/2018
Great content, but it has room for improvment.. It does not cover adding data to a database and retrieving it and so on (missing the CRUD operations)
By Seth Gibson on 6/10/2018
The positives in this course is the instructor very clearly walks you through how to set up an Electron application, which is everything you need to really get going. The downside is most of this course is him walking you through his javascript logic for the applications he built. This is fine, but I would expect people taking this course to know javascript already. I'd say 90% of this whole course could be cut out if he simply had the user cut/paste javascript and css code. On top of that, his coding practices are outdated and poor. Everything is built with a pre-ES6 mentality. He uses inconsistent spacing, omits semi-colons, abbreviates names, writes huge blocks of unreadable string concatenations. He also makes mistakes and typos while walking you through the code. Then at the end he tells you all the mistakes he had to correct. So you can't refer to the videos for correct code, only the summary where he quickly corrects everything. This is extremely lazy from a production perspective. He needs to re-record the videos and do it the RIGHT way.

The course is about writing single-page web apps for non-web developers, and has very weak relation to Electron. Course name 'Learn Electron Framework' is misleading. The course doesn't cover any Electron Framework API except basic app template. However, the material of the course is explained well, in details and with a lot of examples. I'd suggest the author to change the course name in order to describe the actual content of the course.

Well explained (enjoyed the intro/history for context) and the examples clearly tackle the core concepts to get up and running in developing a fully functional electron app. A tad slower paced than other SG courses but worthwhile nonetheless.

This the best course on Electron framework. Explain this topic in very easy language. Very well informative. I'll surely recommend this course to others.
