The course explained certain steps well. The tutor worked at a blistering pace, as a programmer. I found it difficult to see which function key was selected at many points. My only suggestion would be, to slow the movement down at that point and pause and record over the selection for a couple of seconds. Use this for us total beginners . That would have saved rewinding the videos on several points. I really liked section 17 , explaining how different coding works together. The simple way he put such a difficult process. Glad I watched it. Thank you.

This is a good course on WordPress.org for absolute beginners. However, it's pretty outdated. Things on the world wide web change fast, and that's no one's fault, I guess. But there were some features and plugins used in this course that are way too outdated in 2018. They're just too simple and look boring, and there are so many better options nowadays. Overall, it was a good course. I learned much more with the first half of it (up until the SEO and metatags lecture). All of that part was pretty useful, taught me things I didn't know and I can implement while building my website. From then on, however, I found the course a bit repetitive. And the building a theme from scratch part is pretty useless for people, like me, who don't know any coding. So I pretty much skipped that part because I'm going to use a 3rd-party theme anyway.

Aside from the opportunity to have a FREE Wordpress training (thanks so much!), the speaker explains in detail what a beginner like me needs to know. ^_^ From what I understand, this tutorial about installing WP using Apache servers is not live, so if I will be making my personal WP Blog, I would need a hosting site, am I right? Because if I use XAMPP, I won't be able to publish my blog live, please correct me if I'm wrong. Sorry, I'm really a newbie here. Again, super thanks for this! I am not a techy person so I wasn't able to catch up all the codes in designing a WP theme, but it's still a handy tutorial. ^_^

This course is fantastic! I knew nothing about wordpress; so little in fact that I wasn't sure what the difference was between wordpress.com and wordpress.org! Everything is so clearly explained; how to do it, why to do it etc. I feel confident enough to not only build my own wordpress site with wordpress.org but even customize some themes and play around with the code. I've learned a lot. The way the material is explained is not overwhelming at all. There have been a couple hiccups because WordPress has come so far since this training video was recorded many years ago. I just finished course and am ready for the next one. Good Job Brad!! Does a good job of teaching how to set up a WordPress, but sometimes comes up short on the 'whys' of taking certain actions (ex. why is SEO important?). Oftentimes the teacher assumes familiarity of technical terms (PHP, meta tags, and so on) that didn't seem appropriate for a beginner-level course. This becomes especially difficult in the last section of the course, where an intermediate level understanding of HTML/CSS and PHP is required to follow along.

Course provided me with some useful information. The primary information that was useful was the simple guide in navigating wordpress and how to install and use it on a local server. I also enjoyed the custom theme building portion of the class. I did feel that the instructor could have planned his lectures better and that I spent an unnecessary amount of time waiting for him to get to the point.

You get a very clear cut Wordpress panorama including: Concepts explained thoroughly but in simple and easy terms. A comprehensive set of the things that can be done. A very good suggestion of a minimal add-ons set. Good hands on experience, if you follow the steps carefully. How to get your own web site up and running.

I gave this course 3 out of 5 stars. I realize that this is a free offering and that is great. However, his ideas of setting up and running a server locally has merit, in theory. I spent days chasing my tail trying to install the XAMPP through his instructions. The instructions on installing XAMPP is so out of date it was impossible to get to the point that I could use this as a local server. Everything that he discussed concerning the installation of XAMPP was way out of date. After several frustrating days, I gave up on his instructions for this and went via Bitnami and set up a local server using this offering. His instructions of the directory structure where pages are placed were correct and I located the same directory under the Bitnami installation directory. This part of his instructions on setting up XAMPP should either be updated or removed because it is simply non-applicable. I must add to this that having a working local server on my laptop has given me freedom to create that I have never had. Now, for the course itself, It was good and well instructed. Once I was able to set up a local server, I was able to follow along easily. It is good clean instructions on beginning WordPress and I found it very useful. So in conclusion, thank you for making this tutorial available for free, but could you please make it updated to match the current version XAMPP?

The content of the course matches with what I was looking for.
But the slides are not clear and readable. This is the part that I don't like about the course.

This course helped me gain a good understanding of word press.
Essentially I also learned how to build a website, so that was an unexpected benefit.
This instructor knows his stuff and knows how to teach.
Completing this course has motivated me to do something I've long thought about: learning to code.
