Course Description
Real Student Reviews:
"Fantastic course, it covers all you need to know about moving web-sites both ways; and backing up a complete copy of the existing site. Very handy it things go pear shaped. I have my first web-site to up-grade and make responsive. My client want's to leave his old web-site up until the new one is ready. This means copying the site to my laptop (local-host), modifying it, testing it then uploading it. Anytime i've being stuck! Support from Andy and the other students has always solved any problems i've had. Would highly recommend all his courses they are straight to the point no waffle. "
"This class is extremely easy to follow. Andy's instructional pace was easy to follow. Wasn't as tough as I thought it might be based on my lack of experience. Success with the class motivates me to continue working on educating myself on web page design. Thanks!"
"My firsdt Udemy Course and my first Wordpress tutorial. It gave me a wonderful start. I did my first install of wordpress locally without any issues following this tutorial step by step. I can now do everything on wordpress without worrying about any monthly charges. Thanks Andy. "
"Andrew is a great instructor and I love his flexibility in providing solutions to his students problems. I was having problems applying some of the concepts to my MacBook but once I reached out to Andrew, he when back to the drawing board and provided clear instructions for us mac users. I have the pleasure of taking some of his others courses which has the same high level of content and support."
"The usual high quality from Andy. If you want to test your website building skills, before committing to hosting and exposing to the world, then this is the way to do it. Clearly laid out and easy to follow. A great teacher."
"Loved this course. Andy's lectures were thorough but I was never bored. In each lecture I was saying "I didn't know I could do that without blowing up my computer" (lol) or "Oh, so that's how you do that!" I took my time and enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks, Andy!"

This is an excellent course indeed! The presentation is very logical and the audio quality is very good. Andy speaks very clearly and fairly slowly making it easy to follow (there are many machine gun talkers at Udemy making it difficult). The installation of XAMPP worked flawlessly for me. I was also pleased to learn that XAMPP is available for Linux as I am a fan of Linux. I would have enjoyed a discussion of WP multisite as I am going to create many websites. I am wondering how to do if you want to transfer just one of them to a real hosting. I highly recommend this course to anyone e g when learning WP.

Dr. Andy has created a complete step-by-step guide that covers all the uses of a local installation of WordPress including transferring to/from an online copy of WordPress. Possible difficulties are addressed, as required. Some of the steps can be quite technical and daunting, but Dr. Andy has taken the time to reassure the student that patient following of the guide will yield the correct results. Dr. Andy is responsive in the Q & A area to all student queries and updates the course if that is necessary. Detailed screen shots are given throughout the course. An area for possible improvement is for the author to zoom in further for some of the smaller shots. The course is thorough and well-presented and is suitable for all students who want to experiment with a local rather than hosted installation of WordPress.

I would not consider myself tech-savvy, but tech doesn't scare me and I am a great step by step direction follower. I was able to create a website offline, migrate it to online and then back again. I had to stop, start, pause, back up, re-watch and start again. It probably took me 4 times as long as the videos if you ran them straight through, but WOW I am so pleased I did it. One thing that I noticed is sometimes he would say "click on...." and he'd do it so fast and the screen would change, I'd have to rewind several times to make sure I was clicking the right thing. Being a "beginner" I had to take alot of breaks because I would get overwhelmed, but then I'd get back at it. Having two or more separate screens to view while working was very helpful for me. Overall, this course gave me the info I needed to get the job done. Would recommend to anyone with patience and determination to work through the learning curve.

From not knowing much about WordPress I have been able to set up my own site locally following the instructions given in this course. Andrew is very clear and goes at a good place, I did go back over different lessons as I was setting up my own files so I had better understanding. while there was a couple of issues I experienced 1) with site certificates (totally my computer) and 2) naming of files eg php(.ini cant always see the .ini so your looking for the php file) I was able to solve this asking my questions on google. I am very happy overall with this course and have enrolled in others, I look forward to continue learning under same Tudor

Andy is, as always, precise and to the point with his explanaitions. I had a few problems with parts of the software installation / setup but this was not unexpected as there are so many variables with this type of procedure. I did'nt need to query Andy to resolve my problems but from past knowledge of him I know he would have helped if necessary. I would'nt want to put any prospective purchaser off with my previous statement as everything is straightforward and very well explained. Excellent and very useful product for anyone using Wordpress.

Andy's lectures were very good because they were fairly complete and understandable. There's no question that you will learn how to move a wordpress site back and forth between your local computer and a hosting site. I subtracted a 1/2 star because I use an iMac, and the lectures weren't really designed for an iMac. Also I could not get the wp-migrate plugin in the course to work because of utf-xxx database conversion errors (which should not have been a problem). So I had to find and use a different plugin (wp all in one migration, excellent). If you use an iMac, see my notes in the question area. Now I'm on to some of my other 8 courses by Andy. Best wishes to everyone.

I enjoyed the course but faced some local issues (not covered) when setting up the local Wordpress environment on my PC which were related to previous installations of Apache, MySQL and PHP. It is a bit of a big ask to expect all scenarios to be covered though and I got there in the end! I found the export (local -> web server) and import (web server -> to local) especially interesting as I will have to do this once I have completed a static (HTML) web site to WP conversion. Any pointers on achieving that would be very good to know! I noticed that you used tools such as cPanel, cache manager etc.during the course and any further information on the benefits of them would be good to know.

I have gone over and over his instructions, done everything at least twice just so I could get it into my head and have the knowledge stay there. He is very easy to follow and has a soothing and pleasant voice. He doesn't tell, he explains. Very good style of instruction. I found it was a good idea to write notes on setting up the database, then Wordpress and plugins. Then I'd made good notes on how to move the site because this is the most important part of your work - getting it up, running and right.
