Course Description

If you’re like me, you know just how powerful and easy WordPress is to use. It’s amazing how you can build a professional, high-quality website without needing to know all the technical details. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, WordPress just works.

But here’s the thing: I hear this one question a lot – “How do I back up my WordPress site?”

Imagine this: You wake up one morning, excited to check on your site, but instead, you’re met with an error. Your website is down, and you’re not sure why. Panic sets in, right? How do you fix it? More importantly, how do you make sure this never happens again?

Take a deep breath – I’ve got you covered.

I’ve put together a course that will guide you step by step through everything you need to know about backing up and restoring your WordPress website. I’ll show you how to manually back up your site, and I’ll also introduce you to a handy (and free) plugin that can automate the whole process for you.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • What to back up: I’ll break down which parts of your WordPress install are essential to save and how to access them.

  • Manual backup made easy: I’ll guide you through backing up important files using FTP or cPanel’s File Manager (and yes, I’ll even show you how to set up FTP from scratch).

  • Restore with confidence: You’ll learn how to manually restore files using FTP or cPanel – so no more guessing.

  • Database safety: I’ll teach you how to manually back up and restore your WordPress database.

  • Automated backups: You’ll discover different ways to automate backups, so you’re always prepared.

  • Free plugin walkthrough: I’ll show you how to install and set up a simple plugin that automatically backs up your database and sends it to your email.

  • Complete site backups: Learn how to automate full site backups with a plugin that can even upload them to Dropbox or your preferred online storage – hands-free!

By the end of the course, you’ll feel confident knowing that your website is protected. You’ll know how to easily back up and restore your site, giving you peace of mind no matter what happens.

Never worry about your WordPress site again. Once you know how to safeguard your hard work, you can focus on what you love doing – building and growing your website.

I’d love to help you get there!

Ready to make your WordPress site bulletproof? Let’s do this together.

The course title says it all. Background information is provided on the manual approach to backing up and also to restoring your Wordpress site. Of course, like most site owners I was most interested in setting up this process through the use of plugins in order to automate this as much as possible. Andy provides clear and concise step by step instructions, and his background as a science educator is evident--in a good way :-)

Great course from Andrew Williams, which I highly recommend for every WordPress user. He covered all the major aspects of wordpress backups and restores in a very understandable way. The pace was good - neither to slow nor to fast. Thanks so much Andrew that you covered such an important matter.

You will get in the course not just one way of making wordpress backups&restoring but additional alternatives. This is important in that i get to choose which way is suitable for me, and also in case one way of making backup fails then i have an option to turn to and can always refer back in the course material.

This course clarifies which files need to be backed up which will save me a lot of time! In just the first section, he has demystified a lot of the info I couldn't get a straight answer on when looking it up on other sites. Thanks!

Andy's pointer circles and whirls and is very distracting and hard to follow as he goes up and down a page when it isn't necessary. I would learn more without that distraction.

As usual, Andy presents the various ways to back up WP files in a clear and concise manner. The instructions were easy to follow and I now have confidence that my website is backed up. And I now know how to back up manually as well which is very useful.

Great instructor. I just purchased two of his courses. I learned lots from both courses, but I very much disagree that 'half-a-backup' is better than none. Instead of only focusing on the database backup and ignoring the pictures, everything should be backed up. If that means it can't be emailed, then it would be helpful to show how to deal with that situation. Nonetheless, 5 star presenter. Thanks for great content!

I am new to wordpress and it seems very difficult to use. Andy allows us to understand the pitfalls that normally would create lots of stress. For example, the error and the solution of how to restore a sql database. How to get the media library to have images after a restore. Awesome Job.

I found this course to be extremely helpful. From complete wordpress novice, to having built my large ecommerce site (I had to change platforms from my very old zen cart so I chose wordpress)....and Mr. Williams had just the right courses for me, including this very important series on website backup. Thanks!

Good explanation from the past-html to present and what really needs to be backed up. I also find it best to open your web server files of your site and follow along. Everything in this course was explained in detail, easy to follow, and the instructor(Andy) was also pleasant to hear with a clear voice. Highly recommend this course for knowing what files to backup in Wordpress and the best programs(free) to use.
