PROOFREADING TECHNIQUES
I'll walk you through what to do on each proofreading pass through every draft of your text. We'll start from proofreading of draft zero, which is just your initial starting point. And as your document matures, I'll also show you what to start looking for with every revision.
I'll also show you how to collaborate and perform proofreading and text editing in a team of two or more people.
LEARN ENGLISH GRAMMAR TO HELP YOUR PROOFREADING
After you'll learn proofreading techniques, you will learn the basics of English grammar. We'll start with basics like the building blocks of a sentence and once you feel comfortable with that, we'll move on to writing sentences together so they read well.
HOW IMPROVED PROOFREADING WILL HELP YOUR CAREER
At any job, you must write. You will write everything ranging from texts and instant messages to email to fill-length documents. This course will help you master grammar so you can impress with your writing no matter what you are writing or with whom you are communicating.
Your co-workers, managers, or potential clients will often get their first impression of you from your writing. Whether it's a potential client visiting your website or a manager or a potential employer, sometimes they see your work like a resume or a report or an email pitch before they have a chance to meet you.
If you make a bad first impression with your writing, you may not get a chance to talk to your client on go on a job interview. But if you make a great first impression with your writing, it may open doors and give you a chance to prove yourself further.
EDITING FOR WRITING: LEARN TEXT DOCUMENT OR WORD DOCUMENT EDITING
After proofreading, you need editing. I'll show you collaborative techniques to edit text documents and various business documents so your whole team can edit a document in a convenient and intuitive way that decreases chance of error and maximizes engagement and team collaboration.
MY OWN EXPERIENCE WITH WRITING AS A CAREER TOOL
I was a Computer Science major in college. But because I was interested in writing, my ability to write better always helped me stand out above my peers.
I always had a better than average resume, and got better jobs than my peers. When I went into online business, writing helped me write my books, blog posts, and other website content. In online marketing, writing helps me write better titles and descriptions of my products. Writing also helps me have more efficient online communication. I use it every day and it is in nearly everything I do. This is why I highly recommend it for you too.
IMPROVE YOUR ATTENTION TO DETAIL
One of the great professional soft skills is attention to detail. Show your managers and co-workers that you are a true professional by proofreading your written professional communication, and having it impress!

I'm only part of the way through this course, but I am already loving it. I'm in my mid-50s and I've been out of school for a long time. It was so wonderful to have the grammar refresher section. There was a lot I already knew, but I learned a few new things too. Thanks!

You missed a grammar mistake in the sample email. A sentence should have read "...a report THAT lists the mistakes," not "...a report which lists the mistakes." That final clause should be considered a restrictive (defining) clause, which takes "that" instead of "which."

I loved this course. It included very detailed information, examples, and quizzes. Alex included areas such as using AI to proofread and improve writing skills. He put in a lot of work putting this course together. It was well worth my time and money. Thank you!

I believe this course is helpful in setting a mindset for proofreading. I mean a mindset because the inherent rush to send a written communication is mental and pushes us to move along the daily 'To Do' list. Communications are of the highest priority hence the need to properly exercise due diligence in making them.

Thank you, Alex. It was so informative. I especially liked Section 3, the grammar section. It was actually a refresher course for me and I'm glad I took it. It refreshed my memory from many years ago when I took a similar course. I always had trouble with "who and whom" and now, I have a better understanding the difference. Thank you, again. You're an excellent instructor/teacher! Best regards, Heather Perry

This was a great experience! It helped me lear about the proper placement of comma's, semicolon's, hyphen's, etc. Also, it was a great refresher going over sentence structures and making sure it's grammatically correct and makes sense.

Details very explicitly and thoroughly the ins and outs of meticulously checking mistakes within a text or an email. The course assists in forming a cautious attitude for filtering texts. I have not seen anything worthy of a complaint.

Yes, it has been an absolute match for me. It has been really interesting. I do have a question though. There was one instance where you made a statement that included this clause, "...and this is the reason for why..." Wouldn't it be more correct to say, "...and this is the reason why..."

I enjoyed this course. I feel that I have "relearned" many of the grammar rules that I forgot over time. Alex was very easy to understand, answered my questions so quickly, and helped me see where I tend to use too many unnecessary words.

An earlier course I had attended with this Instructor prompted me to proceed ahead on further courses. With 100% clarity right from commencement, the Instructor deserves appreciation. A wonderful course worth learning by almost all. Thanks to the Instructor & Udemy.
