Course Description

In this course you will learn all types of rhythm and lead guitar devices and concepts for blues, rhythm and blues, Motown, and soul guitar. If you are tired of always playing the same things, and tired of always playing the same chords the same ways, with the same rhythms, then this course can help you break out of that rut and open your playing to more creative pathways. This course will give your chord playing more freedom and open the flood gates to all kinds of new chord, rhythm, and lead guitar ideas.

This course is taught by popular Next Level Guitar instructor Ben Zinn. The lessons in this course are in that very timeless and classic bluesy, R&B, style. This style has strongly influenced today's modern blues players as well as the classic blues guitarists of the past.

This course is all about teaching you to play different things and getting you "outside the box." This course will also help you develop licks and fills to play in between your rhythms. This way, you can play cool and interesting rhythms but insert all kinds of licks and rhythmic devices to dress up your playing. We make it easy to incorporate these techniques and devices into your own blues rhythm and lead playing. Plus, we teach you how to take the timeless classic techniques and utilize them in a more modern R&B approach. And in our bonus lesson we teach how you can get a great, classic blues tone. You'll also all about the guitars, gear, pickups, amps, effects, and how to dial in great tone.

This course comes with seven HD video lessons, along with six practice and review downloadable PDFs — one each for the first six lessons. These PDFs include lesson reviews, chord charts, tabs, and practice tips and exercises. You also get three downloadable jam tracks. Most importantly, these three backing tracks are the exact same tracks that are utilized in the video lessons. This makes it even easier and more enjoyable to practice and apply the techniques in a real musical context.  You also get three additional bonus jam tracks so that you can work on these concepts in different keys. These tracks sound great, are custom-made for educational purposes, and are very motivating and empowering to practice over.

You will also get two eBooks that will take you into a deep dive into these concepts as you move your playing forward. These eBooks are packed with lessons, scale diagrams, chord charts, application practice and more. You get our fully illustrated, full color 38-page "Blues Rock Soloing" eBook and our "Chord Building, Key Signature, & Songwriting Basics For Guitar" eBook. These are comprehensive reference manuals you will use often throughout your guitar journey. They are packed with scale diagrams, soloing strategies, music theory, modal lessons, chord charts, key charts, practice tips, and even more killer lessons.

Throughout this course you will learn:

-How to modify chords and play them in fresh new ways.

-How to add fills to your rhythms and spice up your chord progressions.

Dated material.

By Stef on 9/24/2017

All the sound and chord progression/fills/inversion i was looking for (soul type/wilson Picket, B.Womack , S.Cropper...) and how to work on it - the lesson on 6th is a real game changer for me, wish i learned that earlier. Thank you.

By Siegbert Debatin on 8/18/2017

The course gives a lot of helpful information. Lesson 1 I can directly use for my personal playing, whereas lesson 2 gives shapes which are also interesting, but because of the use of empty strings they are not moveable, which is important for me.

By Pat Kenny on 8/15/2017

Each module was well presented and I certainly learnt from it. However, it was a bit too diverse, I thought. It was like a selection of unconnected You tube videos. I would also prefer tab as the musical notation presented (obviously that's a personal preference). For some reason also the buffering was soul destroying and I don't normally suffer from much buffering, but I have noticed it with your videos before.

Very useful information for real world playing.Very concise information at a pace you can easily follow and understand.Great Video quality. The Section on using and how to play 6ths is worth the price of the course alone.I play out a lot and I can put a lot of this information straight away into my playing.

By Eric Brown on 8/13/2017

This is great! The lessons are loaded with good ideas and techniques, and are very easy to follow. This is the kind of training I have been looking for with lots of useful stuff in well ordered lessons. The videos cover a range of styles of music, and also guitar and amplifier set up. Ben"s teaching style is relaxed and easy to work with. Well done.

By Chris Hushak on 8/13/2017

I learned more about chord progressions with some bluesy modifications in 18 minutes (first 2 lessons) than I have in the past 2 months of noodling around trial and error. Each lesson builds on the previous and uses a good mix of examples along with a clear explanation of the music theory (don't fret, it's not overwhelming) that makes it work. Now, on to playing the Blues!

By Ron Lien on 8/11/2017

I like how the different effects were discussed and what to set up the sound effects within the video. A lot of videos do not go into how to get the sound or how to set up the pedal board so this is good that it is trying to include this.

By John Swartz on 8/11/2017

it was very exciting to learn more of how the guitar works. Never thought of using a wah pedal in my bends. Also the lesson on sixths and the patterns that are used to make the sixths work was eye opening to me and how to use them over the chords was the best.

By Greg Knight on 8/11/2017

Simply put "The BOMB!!!" Ben really opened my eyes to a few concepts that never crossed my mind. I have to admit that I still play at a rather basic beginner level but now I see the light at the end of the tunnel. This course will surely rocket my playing to the next level. David Thanks a Million for this course You're the MAN!!
