Course Description
This course is outdated. Please see the new 2025 course - Modern React From The Beginning
This course is for anyone that wants to learn React and also for React developers looking to build some projects and sharpen their skills.
The first project (Feedback App) is structured in a way so I can explain the fundamentals such as components, hooks, props, state, etc in a way that beginners can understand. The second project (Github Finder) will show you how to work with 3rd party APIs and the third project (House Marketplace) is a larger app that uses Firebase 9 and includes authentication, Firestore queries, file storage and more.
The final project has been added! It is a fullstack MERN support ticket system that uses Redux and Redux Toolkit.
Here are some of the things you will learn in this course:
React fundamentals including components, props, hooks, state, etc
React hooks such as useState, useEffect, useContext, useReducer, useRef, etc
Creating custom hooks
React Router v6 (latest version)
How to handle global state with context, reducers and hooks
Firebase 9 authentication, queries, storage
Deploying React apps to Vercel & Netlify
Basic Animation with Framer Motion
Implement Leaflet maps and Swiper sliders
Fullstack MERN (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js)
REST API creation
Redux
Redux Toolkit
Authentication with JWT
Much More...
This course has been completely re-done with new projects and concepts from the old course. I have a few React courses and this is the one that I always suggest people start with before moving on to the MERN courses

Thank you for a great course. I wanted to leave 4.5 start but that wasn't an option. My only complaint is that I was getting lost frequently especially toward the end in the last project when you were mentioning slices, thunkAPI, local storage, dispatch, and store. What could have helped is an overview of all the main tools or components and how do they work with each other and "why" do we need them. would be even better if you create a diagram at the beginning of a project to show the flow of the data throw these components and how they affect the data where students can go back and check if they get lost halfway. Everything else was great and I appreciate you sharing recommendations on tips and good tools even ones not used in the project. Thanks Brad!

This course (in mid-2024) was an excellent one for me. Returning to the course after a year or more, I was able to complete it end-to-end, (except for the Heroku deployment in the final project which I have other plans for : (Vercel, AWS, Render etc.). Brad's style of teaching is by doing, he doesn't spend a lot of time explaining 'why' which I've read some frustrations over in past reviews - but that's Brad; if you've gone thru his YouTube tutorials for example, just his style and there's nothing wrong with this. (One improvement could be a single PowerPoint slide explaining each project's architecture and especially Redux architecture). While some may feel this is not a beginner's course, my view is that this is not a babysitting exercise, you do need to be resourceful when you get to React/Redux; Apart from Brad who's contributions to so many over the years is well-known, the real gem here is 'teaching-assistant' Will. Always prompt, detailed and quick to actually test your app from your shared github - this is an example of outstanding support). So thanks Will. All in all a good course covering React, APIs, props, Context, Redux(ToolKit).

First and foremost, I think this course is not suitable for beginners because it jumps right into implementation, with little to no explanations on the fundamental working concepts. Perhaps that is the intent of the course, to quickly churn out projects and leave the documentation background reading to learners at their own time/pace. That said, the course is well-curated and covers many useful frameworks and libraries. But be warned that some lectures will feel as though you are just typing out code blindly, without really understanding the behind-the-scenes. With practice, some of the boilerplate codes will come more naturally. Lastly, a shoutout to Will who has been responsive to queries and resolving the many issues learners faced. I hope such support for the course continues into the far future.

Excellent and straight to the point, with practical example: This is the course I was looking for after countless waste of time on 50h+ course that don't get you anywhere , where half way you drop out, this course is great. I would recommend to anyone who already has some experience coding. I feel like this is the best React course in all Udemy but weirdly enough it is not easy to find this crown jewel. I first heard about after wasting so much time and looking to Quora for some answers and someone recommended looking into Brad Traversy. I am glad I come across this. Full disclosure, I have previous coding experience on mobile development.

It really helps that the tutorial is hands-on. Brad does a good job of explaining things in blocks from the first basic app; the Feedback App to a full MERN project; the support-desk app. By the time I was done with the course, I looked back at where we started and I think this has been one of my proudest moments. Brad does this thing where he clearly states the objective of what he wants to achieve. Initially (especially with the first project, it feels a little confusing) and then he goes ahead to explain it so it makes sense. Not too long after, you'd find that he wants to achieve a similar kind of objective so again, he states clearly what they are; so it is easier to follow along. If however, you want to make the best of the course, whenever he states the objectives and you have a good enough idea of what he wants to do; I recommend you pause the video and attempt it first. Then follow up with his explanations and they just make sense. You even see creative ways of achieving the same outcome. All in All, really good work Brad.

I am new to react and recently transitioned into full stack development (MERN stack). This course was like a blessing for me. Thanks, Brad for all the expertise and effectively communication of your domain expertise and for making the concepts and logic of React and other tech stacks so clear. Very highly recommended, and I would definitely encourage my friends and colleagues to check out this amazing course.

This is my first finished udemy course, i'm happy to buy it, it's totally worth, it only take me 20 days to finish this course,it's quick course, no boring, but have some challenge. I am a React newbie, the course made me more understand how to program my web system with it, and every project are related, not just for practicing certain knowledge. Reading the lecture's Q&A are helpful when i get stucked. Hope my poor english can show my thought, Happy Programming!

Brad is an amazing instructor who teaches at just the right pace where you feel you are making good progress but at the same time learning concepts in a thorough manner. This course included exposure to the MERN stack as well as Firebase (although not the focal point of the course) which provided a real-world learning experience for using React. I'm really glad I chose this course and highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn ReactJS

Cool course! The course is scheduled very well. I like the second case. Though it is a simple case, it tells you how to use simple skills to complete functions. And the author also did the code refactoring in the second case. That's cool for beginners to learn how to make the codes nice and concise. I think if you just want to create a simple website, that's enough. The third case and the fourth case are quite complete and very helpful. Another best thing is the author tells you how to deploy your app to some platform. For me, it's very helpful. Thank you, Brad. I learned a lot from this course.

Brad is a knowledgeable and thorough instructor, alongside with Will who is always available to answer our questions. The hands-on approach adds a layer of comprehension that is hard to find in most courses, and this one comes with four projects! I ended up on this one after buying a few react courses that felt bloated and hard to follow. This one is concise! Also, check the course and lecture questions section for an extra bit of knowledge. It where Will shines! Thanks for this!
