React Native: Mobile App Development (CLI) [2026] (Udemy.com)

(All Levels) - Build iOS and Android Apps: Master Hooks, Redux Toolkit, Navigation, Authentication, Payment & App Stores

Created by: Nata Vacheishvili

Last updated January 2026

Our take

Based on the ratings of 1,761 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in January 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.

This is a React Native course built around the CLI rather than Expo, which is rarer than it sounds and is the reason a couple of reviewers picked it. Nata Vacheishvili takes 20.6 hours and 208 lectures to go from environment setup on macOS and Windows through hooks, navigation, Redux Toolkit, authentication, a Node and Express API, Stripe payments and finally publishing to both stores. The course says all levels, but the one requirement is basic programming experience, and the optional JavaScript and styling bootcamps are there to patch gaps rather than teach from zero. It fits best for someone who already writes JavaScript and wants the full CLI workflow.

Students like the friendly tone and clear delivery, and one mentions understanding the instructor without subtitles. The extra material beyond the core syllabus gets praise, as does the fact that the instructor doesn't shy away from the hard stuff. The complaints are consistent. Three-star reviews ask for push notifications, axios, Google Maps and other plugins that real apps use. One reviewer found the pace too fast, with the logic behind some code left unexplained, and said the store deployment module needed attention. A couple of low ratings mention videos that wouldn't play and code that felt out of date, though the course was updated in January 2026.

It has about 13,000 students and a 4.5 rating from 1,760 reviews, with 91 percent of ratings at four or five stars. Its pitch is the CLI-first workflow with payments and a backend included. The 64 quizzes and two practice apps, a social media app and a donation app, keep it hands on. Recommended if the CLI workflow is what you need; look elsewhere for Expo or deeper native integrations.

Best forJavaScript developers who want the bare React Native CLI, not Expo, and a path from first app to the app stores.
Skip it ifYou want Expo, push notifications, maps or native plugins covered, or you prefer a slower pace with every line explained.

Pros

  • Uses the bare React Native CLI throughout, which reviewers who wanted to move off Expo specifically praise
  • Goes past the basics into Redux Toolkit, Stripe payments, a Node and Express API and store submission
  • Clear, friendly delivery; one reviewer says the instructor can be understood even without subtitles
  • Optional JavaScript, styling and hooks bootcamps let experienced developers skip ahead

Cons

  • No push notifications, axios, maps or third-party native plugins, a gap three-star reviews call out
  • Pace is fast and some code logic goes unexplained, according to one reviewer with programming experience
  • The store deployment section and some video playback problems drew complaints in low-star reviews
Exactly what I was looking for. Friendly tone, clear language that can be understood even without subtitles.
Елизавета Веташкова, a student

Listed as all levels, but basic JavaScript is required; true beginners should expect to lean on the optional bootcamp sections.

Experience as a Developer

Starting out at the young age of 8, I was already on a journey to become a master of programming. I never stopped learning new skills and languages, and even created websites for family and friends just for fun. My passion for coding led me to attend one of the top engineering schools in the USA, WPI, where I graduated with distinction as a Computer Scientist. Today, I am a successful Lead Software Engineer, helping to guide and mentor Junior developers to reach their full potential.

With a wealth of experience under my belt, I am a true Full Stack Developer, with expertise in Javascript (React, Vue, React Native & Node) as well as PHP and MySQL. I am constantly exploring other languages such as Java, C++, Python, and more to stay at the forefront of my field.

In addition to my coding skills, I am also a certified AWS developer with a huge passion for DevOps and architecting applications that can scale to meet any challenge. Join me in this exciting field, where the possibilities are endless.

Yes, i enjoyed this course. It was really informative and good for me and I know that Ill definitely be taking the learnings forward in my development journey. I have some notes to further improve the course: Notes for improvement: - Proptypes -> Use typescript - Use property deconstruction for props - Look at common patterns and principles for writing code. - Watch your code formatting too. - Use actual pictures in the app, make it fun! - Use useNavigation hook - IMO, not a fan of Javascript's weakly referenced data types and I very much prefer the explicitness of types as it reinforces good code readability and maintainability. We can use Typescript for this and interfaces. - Use a flatlist for the donation apps category items. - Avoid using val as names etc. Try to see if there is a more informing name. - Try not to put so much code/ functionality in one line. Research SOLID principles. - You can refactor a lot of code in the app demo examples into its own components. - This is an all levels course, consider covering concepts such as async/ await, API calls/ networking, permissions, file access, etc. - You can perform validation for email and password fields on the Front end using javascript libraries like Formik etc.

Initially I didn’t like the speed with which things are moving along, but after repeating several lessons and diving deeper into material, I started seeing benefits from the course, the value and effort put by Nata. If you are a complete beginner, I would recommend learning basic of programming, but if you have experience with different programming languages (I personally have 2 years experience with Java), then even if you are completely new to JS and/or React framework, you can catch up quickly. The lessons you did not really understand may require you to rewatch them several times and try applying on your own. Just don’t give up!

This course fills the gap in Udemy React Native market, since this is the only course that uses React Native CLI , not Expo CLI. All other courses here use Expo CLI. Unfortunately, not all software companies use Expo. So plus point for this course. This course is pretty much a gentle introduction to RN for beginner, even though students should already know JS before starting this course. I also like the quiz sections at the end of each topic to test our knowledge. But the Q&A section in this course is not maintained anymore by the instructor. Since 3-4 months ago, all questions are not answered by the instructor. No one is the re to answer students' questions. I also don't like the way the instructor introduces new topic by appearing in the course, introducing the new topic by reading some texts. It is difficult to understand a complicated topic by listening to her talking/reading some pre-prepared texts. I prefer to see ppt slides when she explains the theory part or introduces new topic. Overall, the content of the topic is quite okay (not a complete guide into expert topic tho) , but I don't like the way the instructor teaches and explains the topics. New topic is always started with her talking/reading out loud to the students and then jump to the coding part. I find it pretty boring and not motivating. But I think it is just a matter of preference. In general, I don't enjoy this course.

Course is very good. I mention that is not for a complete beginner. I had some difficulties to understand some processes from this tutorial, but i had a React for web tutorial, where all the concepts are explained for beginner level. I understand concepts from there and after i came again to this course and apply them to React Native projects. This is not a issue at all because courses for very beginner level you find everywhere, but courses that show to you haw to build a React Native application with a modern approach are very less. Overall, my feedback is that course is very very good. Thank you Nata!

This course was an excellent introduction to CLI React Native development. I was able to create the apps introduced by Nata and follow directions for most of the course. The course guides you through the entire workflow of building and releasing a mobile app with RN. The basic refreshers on JS and styling were great and the React + Native basics complemented each other. If you have any React experience, you will find Native easy to jump into. Navigation, Redux, and authentication were also included. I will say that the course is a gentle introduction and not a deep dive like some 30+ hrs offerings. You might and will need to do more practicing outside of the course. The only section I could not complete was the deployment, due to App Store fees. So caution on that if the instructions are outdated and at some points of the course, they are. However, the internet and previous comments were helpful!

Really good course and fully up to date. The instructor is extremely responsive, and was available to guide me when I encountered issues. One of the packages she used got updated at one point while I was doing the course, and she had updated the course within a few days. Only drawbacks in my opinion are the fact she uses JavaScript and not TypeScript, and that she proceeds through each step extremely quickly, so when I was working on a single screen it was a bit tricky because I had to stop and pause very frequently (however, perhaps this is better than the alternative).

This was a great react native course! Nata is a great instructor and very responsive in the Q&A section which makes a big difference to me. Just shows that the instructor really cares about their students which Nata def does ! One of the best parts is that you learn how to use the react native cli instead of expo like pretty much all the other course on Udemy do. This course made me feel more comfortable using React Native CLI and picked up many new skills with react native along the way.
