This is an excellent entry level course for anyone who, like myself, has never touched a set of decks of any kind before. I think the course would also work for anyone who is perhaps already a DJ, but not used a digital controller and associated software application before The instructor encourages you to go and practice the concepts learned in each module as you learn and not watch it end-to-end before attempting anything. DJ Alon does not speak English I guess and uses a narrator, but please do not let this put you off as it was not an issue at all for me.
Everything is broken down in simple terms and the main concepts are explored in concise videos so as not to saturate you with information or excessive examples. I was worried that the course was a bit short for what seems a difficult subject, but in actual fact, anything longer would have been overkill for me personally as this is a subject that you really need to practice extensively on your own and I learn easier by doing after I have been shown once. I was delighted to find that by half way through the course, I was able to mix tracks together in my favourite styles reasonably well and the concepts taught will apply to any electronic music I can think of.
My warmest thanks to DJ Alon for helping me learn a skill I have been wanting to try for many years. ?
