Course Description
Welcome to the world of remote working! While the flexibility of working from home or a cafe can be really nice, there are a whole new set of distractions and complications once we leave the office. How do we keep our work lives from blending into our personal lives? And does anyone else out there get really tempted to take a nap in the middle of the afternoon?
This course is NOT about working harder or clocking more hours. This is about working smarter so you can feel less stressed and enjoy your free time more.
In this course, you'll learn best practices for how to get control of your workspace, set up your calendar, prioritize your daily tasks, and finally, manage your energy for maximum focus. This program starts with an assessment, so you can see where you have the most opportunity for skill development. After the assessment, you'll be able to dive into the video content with more directed goals.
I take a holistic approach to Time Management- we aren't robots! I'm sure you have many demands competing for your attention, especially if you work from your home. Let's get real about major factors impacting your productivity and come up with a game plan to take steps towards getting those habits on the right track.
I have worked as a university instructor and corporate trainer since 2005, so I apply what I've learned over the years as an educator. I also rely heavily on visual aides, as that is one way these concepts have come to life for me.
Congratulations on taking this first step towards improving your habits!

I love creating tools and experiences that enable shared understanding. In 2008, I received a Master’s Degree in Linguistics, which is the study of how we think, communicate, and learn. My career started as a university instructor, but later I transitioned into Corporate Instructional Design for the stability.
As an Instructional Designer working in a time of rapid technological growth, I’ve had to stay ahead of the curve so I could be ready to bring our workforce up to speed. The way we work has changed so drastically in recent years that an Instructional Designer is no longer just a workshop facilitator. My arsenal of learning experiences has become increasingly digital. And -gasp social.
As a result of these changes, I learned to flex my digital muscles to create online videos and elearning courses. This meant getting a camera and learning how to use it. I haven't looked back.

This is an ok course. One suggestion I have is that it is focused on visual leaner's with no alternatives for individuals who are not visual learners. I learn, interpret and utilize raw data quickly. A chart methodology decreases my progress. The chart suggestions are matrixes that rely on subjective judgements rather than objective data. I spend more time figuring out the correct placement category for the task rather than categorizing it and moving on. Developing an alternative methodology to share that would provide the same results for non visual learners would be beneficial.

Excellent tips, thank you! "What gets measured gets managed". "proactive versus reactive". "be intentional about work hours". I have more training to do but I think after those other courses are complete, I will come back to this one and take it again.

The course was very engaging and taught me that I can improve on my systems of time management working from home not just in my work day but my personal day as well. I loved the tools and scenarios that were offered and presented. It was a great training.

WOW! This course has validated some to the things that I am doing... and is clearly showing me where I have Opportunities for Improvement (in some cases only needing conscious minor changes and others where I can really focus). I'm excited to put some of the new benefits that I learned into Action! BTW my TBR list has just gotten 5 books longer! lol

I appreciate the tools and roadmap for time management success this course provided. Even if I am only able to apply a few of the actions presented here, I will free up time for more focused, productive work.

Great Tips and Ideas. The challenge is to take action and doing it. Hopefully it is a habit and will try to use and see if it helps enhance any of my current skills and habits to stay organized and with time management. Thanks!

I feel this has given me some good resources - I will see if my library has some of these books and I have already downloaded Trello to play with it and see if it will help in my personal life and my Fursitting business. Thanks!

It was amazing, on the the intro I felt like the presenter was peek trough a window at my house. I reminded me of an old habit that I forgot, keeping track of your tasks using a "sticky note tool"
