Course Description
Would you like to learn ROS 2, the second and last version of Robot Operating System, by building a real robot?
The philosophy of this course is the Learn by Doing and quoting the American writer and teacher Dale Carnegie
Learning is an Active Process. We learn by doing, only knowledge that is used sticks in your mind.
In order for you to master the concepts covered in this course and use them in your projects or, why not, also in your future job, I will guide you through the learning of all the functionalities of ROS, both from a theoretical and practical point of view.
Each section is composed of three parts:
Theoretical explanation of the concept and functionality
Usage of the concept in a simple Practical example
Application of the functionality in a real Robot
I almost forgot! We need one more essential and exciting part of this course for your active learning!
Experiment, Develop, and Test your ideas in the Robot (real or simulated on your PC)
In each Section of the course, I'll introduce you to a new concept, and then we will use it to add new functionalities to the robot:
Introduction to the Course
Set up the Environment: Install Ubuntu and ROS Noetic
Introduction to ROS: What is ROS and why is it so important in Robotics.
Create the first ROS node
ROS Publisher/Subscriber
Digital Twin: Use a simulator to develop and test the functionalities of the robot without the need of any hardware device
URDF
Gazebo
Parameters
RViz2
Launch Files
Control: How to create a Control System for Robot Actuators
Timer
Services
ros2_control
Kinematics: Use the package MoveIt! for the Trajectory Planning
TF2
MoveIt! 2
Application: Interface and make available all the functionalities of the robot to other software to create more complex applications and functionalities
Actions
Alexa: Use the Alexa Voice Assistant to actuate the robot with the voice
Build the Robot: Build the real robot and migrate all the functionalities from a simulated robot to a real one
Arduino IDE
Serial Communication
Conclusion and Summary of the course
To facilitate your learning and help you join the robotic world, the code lessons are available both in C++ and in Python and you can decide which language to use during the course.
Anyway, I would suggest that you follow both in order to complete your Robotics Software Developer profile!

Hey, I'm Antonio Brandi and I'm glad you are here!
I am a Robotics Engineer specialized in Autonomous Navigation for Robot applications with several years of experience working with ROS and mobile robots both for industrial and commercial applications.
Actually I'm working with the brightest minds in the field of ROS and Robotics at Pal Robotics.
Despite having an Engineering background, I'm a ROS self learner and I know how tough and demotivating it can be rushing through all the concepts and documentations. Furthermore, I genuinely think that the best way to learn something is to scratch your head and build something real that you can interact and play with.
That's why my courses will handle both the required theoretical background and its implementation in the real world!
Remember to have fun and experimenting while learning

One of the best courses on Udemy. The instructor has exceptional knowledge of mathematics, physics, and ROS 2 architecture. I really loved the way he explained the concepts, making them easy to understand and follow. The course is definitely worth buying, and I'm looking forward to more such courses to further enhance my skills.

The course will bombard you with everything ROS has. I don't understand to code I am writing; plus explanations doesn't help me understand what I am doing. The couse descripion said it is for a beginers; in my case, I knew nothing about ROS2. I have difficulties to understand the structure of the project.Appearently, this is not a place to start ROS.

The course material has not been updated to be compatible with ROS 2 Jazzy. You will run into issues from Chapter 5 onwards where the Gazebo simulation cannot be controlled by the control system that's created in the course. After running into issues typing up the code exactly as described in the lectures, I cloned the instructor's GitHub repo which is meant to be the most up-to-date version and could not this control system to even start up. If you're using ROS 2 Jazzy or a newer version of ROS 2, you will spend a lot of time troubleshooting code issues. Assignments don't have solution videos or explanations either so you're left wondering how the instructor came up with his solutions when the URLs provided in the assignment instructions don't have a connection to the instructor's solution.

Another fantastic course from Antonio! His deep expertise in robotics shines through once again, offering a clear and practical approach to mastering robot manipulators. The course strikes a perfect balance between theory and hands on implementation, guiding learners through kinematics, control algorithms, and ROS2 integration. Antonio’s explanations are concise yet thorough, the labs and coding exercises were especially valuable for building confidence in developing and testing manipulator motion. Highly recommended for anyone serious about advancing their robotics skills!

This is one of the best ROS2 courses I've done so far! The ROS2 for Beginners courses are also very good, but while those ones provide a more comprehensive base in ROS2, this one is much better in terms of applied/ specific learning. I think this course could benefit from assignments and follow up lectures like the ROS2 for Beginners course has, but if your aim is to control a robotic arm, you will not find a better course than this one! My goal was to implement ROS2's kinematics on a six axis arm I designed and run using GRBL, and this gave me the tools I need to do exactly that. Thank you very much, Antonio!

This was my third course on Udemy taught by Antonio and I have learned a lot in each course and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Everything in each course is not intuitive, but, if you apply yourself, everything works in the end. And, Antonio has been very supportive in the Q&A when I was truly stuck. I highly recommend this course! I really enjoy the Learn by Doing nature of the courses and I am looking forward to the next courses in the self-driving series.

Was god, to the point. Many times it was coding on the go. I think it is better (especially if examples are from standard documentation from ROS2) then show the code and what it does, rather than typing and doing commentary. Otherwise the course was gr8. Thanks. I have enrolled for the Odometry course also.

I have found it to be an exceptional learning experience. The course is meticulously structured, gradually building up from fundamental concepts to more advanced topics like kinematics, Euler angles, and quaternions. Each lecture is clear and concise, with practical examples that reinforce the theoretical knowledge. The visual aids and whiteboard explanations significantly enhance understanding, making complex concepts accessible. The hands-on approach keeps the learning process engaging and interactive. Overall, this course is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to deepen their knowledge in robotics and ROS 2, and I highly recommend it to aspiring roboticists.

this lecture covers topic, service, and action; besides it contains .cpp, .py, and .hpp. As a bonus, it contains Flask interface with Alexa and Arduino code. This lecture itself basically trains beginners to the pre-robot engineers who seek for entry position level in robot industry although they would have to go over and over this lecture until they understand every line of the code and be able to regenerate this entire code without looking at the code :P

I have completed 5 different ROS courses in Udemy. They were beneficial. However, I have never seen a lecture that explains the entire pipeline with that much detail. Visual materials and theory classes were excellent, each package and code was written from scratch. It is clear that Antonio spent so much time to create this lecture. I highly suggest this course to other students.
