This is a desktop-only walkthrough of Shapr 3D, the CAD app that also runs on iPad. Nicolas Forgue starts with the dashboard and grid, moves through sketches and constraints, then covers extrusions, revolutions, sweeps, lofts, fillets, materials and technical drawings. It runs about 10 hours across 81 lectures in 14 sections, and more than a third of that is practice models, ending in a gate project. It is built for people new to 3D modeling, and one reviewer who came in as a beginner says it was exactly what they wanted.

Praise is steady. Students call the teaching precise and well organized, with lots of examples, and one says the repetition of tools across lessons helps it stick. The complaints come down to two things. The course was recorded in 2022, and several reviewers say the interface, tools and hotkeys no longer match the current app. The other is the French accent. A few found it hard to follow, while others say it took a few minutes to tune in and the English was clear. One reviewer found the extrude and loft lessons too shallow, and another wanted harder projects.

Of 203 reviews, 107 are five stars and only 12 are one or two stars, so most people are happy. The last update was November 2022, though, so expect to translate some steps to the newer interface. Treat it as a patient base for the fundamentals, not a click-for-click match. If you can live with that, it is a friendly way into Shapr 3D. Try a preview lecture first to check the accent suits you.

Shapr 3D is an intuitive CAD software. The tool provide a free version and a paid version with more conceptions at the same time and more features. It is possible to use on Ipad or to use on deskop version on computer. In this course, we will use the deskop version on computer. A CAD software allows you to work with sketches, and then to convert this sketches into 3D models. Shapr 3D offers everything that a CAD software need to be efficient. Ergonomic sketches system, large panel of tools to create 3D models. This tool can provide conceptions for 3D printing, it can also provide the creation of 3D models as a 3D modeling software.


Important : We will use the deskop version on computer in this course, not the Ipad version.

The instructor is excellent. It took me a few minutes to start "hearing through" the thick French accent, but once I did, I realized that his english is perfect, and he articulates very well.

Ide like to be able to watch this on my tv at home but casting doesn’t work properaly. Just shows a single frame of the video while continuing the lesson. I’m not very happy but will still persist as this looks to be a good course.

The updated interface versus the tutorial provided on the Shaper3d website, YouTube, and other internet resources does not match the current Shaper3D CAD interface... That's my big ding, Otherwise pretty rad. It is frustrating that the visual examples in these tutorials do not match the most current interface regarding: tools, hot keys, visual navigation, and settings. I have looked around for this hotkey function and so far, I found that it's not available on the most current Shaper3d CAD. Previous versions of Shaper3d I'm pretty sure this function was available by pressing the "Tab" key (90% of tutorials use the reference). By pressing the "tab" key you would be able to jump between the measurements of a sketch and place an exact measurement to the lengths by keying it in. I have found that this is a common hotkey function amongst most CAD programs to jump between exact measurement input points regarding length or angle. Please add this option back or give a different hotkey function to jump from length or angles to give precious measurements when Sketching in shaper3d.

If you are starting from scratch in learning with Shapr3d this is a very good course. It explains all the functions from the ground up (step by step).

The Instructor is quite thorough. He takes the pain to repetitively explain his actions. That is very good for memory. His English sounded like French initially. lol. Please note that 'thickness' sounds like 'sickness' too. Overall, an amazing course and superb delivery!
