Course Description
This course assumes you know nothing about SQL and teaches you all the basics as well as more advanced features/methods. You will also get to learn Google Big Query, a very popular cloud based tool for querying large amounts of data at scale in the cloud. Not only will you learn SQL, but you will learn a lot about data visualization and how to gather insights from the data. You will also have access to hundreds of huge real world data sets that come along with the Google Big Query Ecosystem. Even after finishing the course content, you can still continue to improve by doing all sorts of projects on the data made available.
This course requires a Google account (which is Free) and a free 12 month trial for Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This is how you access Google Big Query which is one of the services offered through GCP. When signing up for the 12 month free trial of GCP you get $300 USD to spend on any GCP services. This is more than enough to query the data sets in this course. I used less than 5% of the credits in preparing as well as completing all the materials. As part of the sign up process you will require a credit card or bank account details so GCP can verify your identity. You will not be charged or billed during your free 12 month trial. Instructions for signing up will be available in introductory videos for the course.

Excellent course for anyone who wants to learn SQL and BigQuery. You might need only a bit of prior understanding of SQL but once you start the course, you will get a thorough practical understanding of all concepts in SQL and BigQuery. I would also recommend to use two devices to practice along with Chris as it helped me a lot during the course.

I am finding it very useful. My objective for signing up was to be familiar with BQ as my org is migrating to GCP. I have never done coding in my life. And neither is my intent to be an expert. Yet i was able to start writing SQL really fast on this. The concepts he teaches are useful and the structure of course is good.

I'm a Team Lead. I can use the skills I've learned to create a dashboard for my team. I plan to create a scorecard dashboard. In addition, I showed my initial dashboard to my supervisor and he loved it. He asked me to create an additional dashboard for another team/

It is a great course and the teacher is excellent. 2 points nevertheless to mention: 1. The answers to the quizzes are not accurate anymore as the data sets have changed over years. A refresh on that would be nice to have. 2. I haven't see the teacher answering students. I still have 1 question unanswered since 1 week so I wonder if the teacher is still active on this course or not. Except of that, I have learnt a lot and I am very grateful for the new skills I gained through this course.

Good, comprehensive course. Excellent to do alongside a real life problem you are working though. Though some of the datasets may be out of date, and return different answers to those given in the solutions, the queries remain accurate.

Excelente curso para comenzar a utilizar Google Big Query, muchas gracias por la oportunidad de entender un poco mejor la utilidad de esta herramienta. El profesor es muy claro para explicar y maneja muy bien los contenidos.

The course has a strong foundation to learn SQL and some of the tools available in BigQuery / DataStudio. I am not fully novice to the subject so it was fairly ok to follow the content. Chris is a smart guy, he sometimes might go fast over the content or jump from one subject to another - in that case pauze, relax and have a second look. Some subjects could have used a bit more "in-depth" examples and were only touched on very short, then again the power of writing code or queries in being able to search for results and use documentation that's available. It's impossible and completely useless to cover all in depth. The main thing I missed was going over how to upload / bridge datasources to BigQuery - for example via GitHub, Drive etc. - would be wonderful to see some input on this, as no one takes this course to get to know more about the usage of Citi Bikes in NYC ;)! Good job!

I took a bestseller Bootcamp of SQL before doing this course and this course explains in a clearer and more interesting way how to write queries based on examples. I've been using Data Studio for a while and still got great tips from the videos about how to make the graphs look better when you have huge amounts of data. I wish there would be a second part explaining how to access an API and set up triggers for the queries.

Excellent Course and easy to go explanation, thanks for all knowledge you are providing, small hint on the quiz some of the answers are not matching with the outcome of the multiple choices answers, I am sure you will fix that, but overall great job and keep up the good work and looking forward to more courses from your end

Google Cloud Platform is the most in thing to learn right now, this course offers a glimpse into BigQuery SQL, which is good. However for rating it just 4 was that it doesn't cover two topics; that is, designing and crating data tables/ datasets, and interacting with these data tables and dataset from remote device (any other cloud platform or from local machine).
