Reduce and manage stress at work and in business and be more resilient, with 50+ practical stress management strategies

Created by: Liz Makin

Last updated July 2026

Our take

Based on the ratings of 1,186 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in July 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.

Liz Makin's course is a 1.7 hour, 31 lecture walk through stress, aimed at business owners, directors and managers. The syllabus shows a short intro to what stress is, a process for cutting current stress, then about 52 minutes of tips and strategies, and a personal stress plan to fill in. It is a practical course, not an academic one. Makin has run her own coaching business since 2002, and she says outright that people outside business should take her general stress course instead.

Most of the roughly 1,200 ratings are positive, with 503 five-star and 457 four-star. Reviewers like how easy it is to follow, the animated visuals, the plan template, and the way it helped them spot symptoms they had not realized were stress. One says Makin answers questions quickly. The complaints are consistent. Several call it shallow and repetitive, with lectures that read lists from slides. One reviewer felt it drifts toward promoting the instructor and could be a quarter shorter. Another says the advice to delegate does not help when resources are thin.

The course was last updated in July 2026, so it is current. At under two hours it works as a quick checklist rather than a deep program. If you want a starting framework and a template to fill in, it fits. If you want worked examples or a clear link between each cause and its fix, reviewers suggest looking elsewhere.

Best forBusy owners and managers who want a quick checklist of stress tips and a plan template, not theory.
Skip it ifYou want depth, worked examples, or tips that fit a small team with no one to delegate to.

Pros

  • Short, bite sized lectures that fit into a busy day
  • Includes a personal stress plan template to fill in as you go
  • Over 50 tips that reviewers call practical and easy to start using
  • Helps people recognize stress symptoms they had not noticed

Cons

  • Several reviewers find it shallow, with lectures that mostly read lists from slides
  • Repetitive in places, and one reviewer says it could be 25% shorter
  • Tips are not tied to specific causes, and some assume you can delegate
Very practical and easy to follow. Got some handy tips to start implementing immediately.

I think people need to learn to manage their stress. I work with the Public and a lot of times people can be very ugly to us, because they are stressed out and they are willing to take it out on anybody. This has been such a helpful class and I can't wait to use this knowledge with my own life!

By Anonymized User on 10/24/2020

Good but not in-depth, I expected more on the stress-relieving plan, I expected less listing items and reading them, the items are sometimes repetitive, the idea doesn't link potential actions to specific root causes, so you feel like you get fell down in a plate of spaghetti actions! Other than this, suggestions for actions are practical and easy to follow. The material is shallow, not in-depth, but still good and practical.

this course has a lot of helpful information in regard to stress management in the work place one of the things i liked in this course was the revision slides at the end of each section I didn't find it easy to follow the lectures in a smooth way without trying hard to concentrate since the lectures were done through cartoon drawings (maybe for me it is easier if i can hear and see the person talking)
