Course Description
Testing is a must-known and valuable skill in software development.
With an ecosystem growing quickly, several similar tools and few courses or lacking knowledge on the field, my journey with testing has not been the easiest one. Now that I took the right choices and practiced for several years, I want to share my expertise so you become able to write tests the right way !
I don't want to merely show you how to write a test but to introduce the different ways to do it, what I think are the right ones and what is used in the workplace, from my experience.
Knowing how to write tests for a React Native application allows you to quickly be able to test a ReactJS application. Moreover, React Native is quite difficult to test, partly because of the use of native dependencies. These are the reasons that pushed me to write this course.
What are we going to build ?
The first step will be to expose some of the knowledge, tools and best practices needed. The course will focus on React Native without Expo, but will refer to the documentation needed to use Expo.
After laying out the necessary knowledge, tools and good practices we are going to build a Weather Application.
Featuring :
React Native and TypeScript
Redux & Redux-Saga
API calls with Axios
Forms with react-hook-form
Routing with react-navigation
Jest and the React Native Testing Library
Geolocation and OpenWeatherMap API
Test Driven Development-Style
What this course is not
This won't be a deep-dive into APIs for react-dom/test-utils or jest.
Theorical and unopinionated courses about those already exists. Here you will be presented with:
A explanation of those tools, which ones you need, and why
How to put them into practices, in a challenging environment
How companies use them on a daily basis (with some more complicated cases)
Where to find more informations (documentation)

I was looking for a course to start my unit testing journey in React Native. But I was not getting any resources. Then I found this course. After seeing some comments about the course is outdated. I was not sure about buying this course. But I took a chance and I am glad I took that chance. Because I am an experienced developer. I didn't find much difficulty in solving problems. I know there is a long way I have to go to become an expert in TDD/BDD. But after completing this course I am much more confident. Thank you Teddy Morin for making this course.

The course is excelent. It teaches what it promises, TDD in RN. This is not a course for teaching you RN, not even for a second it teaches RN concepts. It goes deep in RN theory. This is not a course for begginers, I would say intermediate+ level, since you will need to already know every single concept of RN by yourself, and even you will have to fix the lines of code that won't work when you follow the tutor, install packages, configure Jest and RNTL, and so on, the typical work you do on your daily job. Be ready for that, BUT, if you overcome that with your own solutions, the course is just magnificent. Pair it with Kent Beck TDD book and everything will make sense. Recommended!

Even though content was short, it demonstrated various solutions for various kinds of problems which most of the resources I found lacked. I felt this is an intermediate course where you need to know the fundamentals of testing before hand. I felt this course is more focussed on techniques to use or how to approach different type of problems than the concepts of testing itself. I think if this aspect is improved i would give 5 star rating

This course was difficult to do, mainly due to configuration issues, but it was worth it. It's short enough to be be do-able in three or four days, but detailed enough to teach the important concepts, and most importantly it does do genuine TDD: write the test as a spec first and then make the implementation pass the test. The course might benefit from a chapter that explains some of the gotchas when trying to make the android development environment work: for several days I had working tests but a non-building app, and only a deep dive into gradle solved that problem for me. But that said, in general this course is very good indeed.

Too much overwhelming codes. Need to understand some of the code blocks by yourself. I thought i can cope up with this advance coding. my fault tho

I haven't finished yet, but this course is pretty good. So many doubts I had have been covering clearly.

material is a bit dated now. code doesn't work with a lot of current versions of libraries used in the training. Also the instructor doesn't always explain important details, such as in the last lesson why he switched between using findByText and getByText within subsequent tests.

The course is good but could have been made more easy to understand if it had started with something simple like the thought process behind testing and then starting with simple texts, functions and then moving on to advance concepts. Half way through i felt it was way too fast and complicated. Still a good initiative to get to testing !

Easy enough to follow along. I personally used this as a refresher; would have been nice to go into E2E and perhaps cover API mocking with a more detailed explanation but overall the course suited my purposes and would probably be suitable for beginners as well.

This Course has just touched the Testing APIs very briefly. In Depth Details were expected. For eg. 'act' API of jest was just briefly explained. There are many more APIs as well. Would have been better if they would have been explained in Depth
