Course Description
Testing is one of the most critical phases in the development of any new software product, because it directly determines whether the solution is reliable, secure, and truly fit for purpose. In this phase, defects are uncovered, risks are made visible, and the overall release readiness of the system becomes measurable. Project managers and stakeholders therefore have a strong interest in receiving clear, up‑to‑date, and trustworthy information about the current test status, including progress, test coverage, and open defects. Without structured test reporting, decisions about timelines, scope, and go‑live readiness are often based on gut feeling rather than data.
In this course, you will learn how to design and implement fact‑based test reporting that supports the entire test lifecycle: from test preparation through test execution to defect management and closure. You will understand which metrics and visualizations are useful for different audiences, how to present complex test results in a concise and business‑oriented way, and how to ensure transparency for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Using real‑world examples, you will practice identifying typical issues in software testing early—such as rising defect trends, insufficient coverage, or blocked test cases—and deriving effective mitigation actions.
By applying the knowledge, best practices, and templates provided in this course, you will be able to support an on‑time and well‑founded go‑live decision and significantly increase the quality and reliability of your software releases.

As an experienced Quality Manager, I took this course as a refresher & to see what new tips I might learn. The course was very well organized & the detail level was perfect. I appreciate the templates - they will be great to implement! While I already do extensive reporting, I still found this course very helpful. The massively key takeaway is the need to quantify our data. We see all the ways this data helps to keep a project on track and to resolve big problems. Thanks for the great content!

Great course thank you Nicolas. Some great stuff in here about time management, how to make reports for prep, execution and defects. It is really nice to work in companies that listen to their testers, and understand that, if a tester says "We cannot release in 2 days", it actually means that. Would love to see more about agile testing though, how to create test reports for projects that will be created with an agile approach, for example how to plan test reports for a 2 week sprint, how do you manage defects and if there are best practices. Thank you very much.

This course taught me how a team could approach test preparation and test execution. I also am able to log and track defects outside of our defect tracking tool when it is offline or down for maintenance.

This is exactly what i was expecting from this session that how to show progress of the test cases planning, execution & defect resoltion to the stakeholders. This is amazing & i will definetly take the benefit from it. Thank You

Quite informative course on how to report test status. Its heavily focused on waterfall processes, but can still utilise the underlying sentiments for agile. Helped me think about ways in which I can visualise information that I previously hadn't considered, so thanks for that Nicolas. The excel spreadsheets are handy as well.

Really informative course on the topic. I've even found some extra information that can help with test planning and test design based on that - which I believe would be very helpful especially for juniors in position.

It's really very clear and with excellent and simple examples which match exactly what we experience on projects. Thanks a lot :-) I learned a lot and it will be of great help for my next projects.

Nicolas, thank you for the course. I've found some great thoughts and ideas that are really helpful. And I appreciate your effort in sharing them. It would be nice to see how you implement test management process and reporting in Agile (SCRUM for instance). Also I'd like hear more about metrics that are less common than number of test cases/bugs per time unit. And lastly I liked real-life stories about project problems and their mitigation. I would be glad to hear more of them.

As I am aspiring towards a QA Manager role, this course was helpful on having an insight of importance of reporting at various phases of testing. Also helped to understand, if faced with issues, how reporting can be tweaked to create transparency and put the facts to Management. But it is purely for beginners.
