Our take
Based on the ratings of 20,169 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in August 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
David McLachlan's course is built for people sitting the PMP or CAPM, and for certified project managers who need to renew. The syllabus shows about 24 hours of video across 402 lectures, and the biggest block, 136 lectures, walks through the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition process. Agile gets its own sections based on the Agile Practice Guide, and there is a fast review of the 7th Edition. Two short worked projects use Microsoft Project and Jira. It also grants 35 contact hours and includes 500 practice questions.
Reviewers keep coming back to the teaching. They describe a calm, clear explainer who makes dense material easy to follow, and several credit the practice exams, one noting the corrections, for preparing them for the real test. One reviewer passed the PMP on a first attempt and another earned the CAPM. The complaints are small. One student wanted more knowledge checks between lectures, another wanted more real-world examples, and a three-star reviewer found it hard to connect all the processes. A two-star reviewer said the 35 hour promise was misleading.
The numbers are strong. Of 20,169 reviews, 13,901 are five stars and only 52 are one star. The course was last updated in August 2026, so the exam content looks current. For anyone who wants video lessons, a big question bank, and the contact hours in a single purchase, it is an easy recommendation. People who learn best from lots of hands-on case work may want extra practice material alongside it.
Pros
- Practice exams come with corrections, which reviewers say prepared them for the real test
- Calm, clear teaching that reviewers say makes dense PMBOK material easy to follow
- Covers both Waterfall and Agile, with worked projects in Microsoft Project and Jira
- Updated in August 2026 and counts for 35 contact hours for applying or renewing
Cons
- Few knowledge checks between lectures, according to one reviewer who loved the teaching
- Only two short worked projects, and one reviewer asks for more real-world examples
- One reviewer found linking the processes together hard, and another disputed the 35 hour claim
Practice quizzes and exams available with corrections which are very useful to prepare for the real exam.
Starts from zero with no prerequisites, but the exam focus suits people who actually want a certification.

I am comfortable with this PMP training course I am currently undertaking, I find it comprehensive and suitable for my preparation. The course meets the key requirements, including coverage of the current PMP Examination Content Outline, predictive, agile, and hybrid approaches, People, Process and Business Environment domains, practice questions, and relevant project-management concepts. Therefore, I intend to continue with the current course rather than change unnecessarily. My focus will be on completing the required training hours, obtaining the certificate, strengthening scenario-based exam skills, undertaking practice and mock examinations, identifying knowledge gaps, and ensuring my preparation remains aligned with the current PMP examination requirements.

It was okay. It is a bit challenging to connect all the information, processes, and their interrelationships (e.g., across departments or procedures). I am hoping that by doing a lot of exercises, I will be able to overcome this issue.

I highly recommend David’s “The Best PMP Prep Course: 35 PDUs, Updated for the 2026 Exam.” This course was a huge part of my preparation and contributed significantly to successfully passing the PMP exam on my first attempt. The course is comprehensive, well structured, and does a great job of breaking down PMP concepts in a way that is easy to understand and, more importantly, apply to exam-style situational questions. The practice questions and exams were particularly valuable in helping me understand the PMP mindset, identify areas where I needed more preparation, and improve my time management.

Very handy coruse to pass PMP exam. Content is really good and practice questions are too close to real exam questions. Also, course notes and fast track notes are so helpfull to focus on correct answer. Please be informed that PMI Study Hall is essential to guarantee exam success at 1st attempt. Do not forget to apply PMI Study Hall and complete mock-up exams and quizzes.

I passed my PMP exam today 3-June-2026 with AT scores in all three domain sections. I completed this course and the two 250 practice tests, as well the first two practice tests in Andrew Ramdayal's PMP Exam Prep 720 Questions. The content and high number of scenario-based questions were extremely helpful to get in the right mindset and absorb the concepts.

I passed my PMP exams first time on May 27th 2026 and it was solely from reviewing this course and completing all your exam questions. I have to say David, you do wonderful work for this industry and I along with many, would not have had the instant success and smooth adoption of knowledge without everything you bring to the table. Thank you very much and stay blessed !

I passed my exam on May 2nd, 2026 and I wanted to show my gratitude here for you for the amount of effords you put for PMP preparation course here in Udemi Academy. What I loved about you the most was the amount of great vibe and energy you transfer while lecturing, making all the PMP terms with real life examples as simple as possible, and with your fleuncy in explaining and nice attitude you made the lectures interesting. Thank you David and I aready recommended your course to many of my friends who wants to pass the PMP.

Thank you so much, David McLachlan!! Your course is exactly what I needed to pass my PMP exam above target in all areas! I wasn't doing so great on PMI Study Hall, but then took your course and got 80% on my first Study Hall mock exam (first try) and 75% on my 2nd mock exam. 86% and 87% if you take out the expert questions. I took AR's course for my CAPM, and I really like your teaching style so much better, personally!! Thank you again!!!!

I used this course as a core part of my PMP preparation and passed. The seminar was clear, structured, and especially strong in explaining the PMP mindset, which made a big difference on the exam. I completed the 35 contact hours through this course, along with practice question set and David’s YouTube videos—all of which reinforced key concepts effectively. I also used PMP Study Hall for additional practice, but this course provided the foundation that tied everything together. Highly recommend for anyone serious about passing the PMP on the first attempt.

Today I passed the PMP exam! I had been procrastinating taking the exam, especially because I didn't know where to study from, until I found this course. It was exactly what I needed: David is very energetic, and concepts are repeated in different ways/sections to help students master them easily. That worked very well for me. The summary notes are very clear and a useful complement to the videos. I found very helpful David's YouTube videos with PMP questions grouped by theme as well. Thank you David for putting together this amazing course!
