Your Step-by-Step Guide to Becoming a Professional Software Tester

Our take
Based on the ratings of 39,712 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in September 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is the wide survey of a testing career, not a deep study of one tool. Across roughly 45 hours and 377 lectures the syllabus walks from SDLC basics and test case writing through Jira, Zephyr Scale, Agile, mobile testing, Postman API projects, JMeter, SQL, Java with Selenium, white-box techniques, freelance platforms and interview prep. It is built for people with no testing background who want to see the whole field before picking a specialty, and it was refreshed as recently as September 2026, which matters for a course first published in 2019.
Reviewers consistently call it beginner friendly and clear, like classroom teaching, and several credit Tarek Roshdy with knowing the field inside out and preparing tidy slides. The complaints are specific. A few students say the pace is quick and the accent takes some getting used to, so they lean on the captions, which the course does have. One finds the audio low in places. One wanted real projects to practice on, another thought 13 quizzes was too many, and one says a few steps get skipped or assumed. A couple mention a video that would not play.
With about 202,000 students and nearly 40,000 reviews at 4.6 stars, the numbers are strong, and one and two star reviews make up around two percent. Next to the ISTQB exam prep course beside it, this one is broader, while the Jira and Agile courses focus on a narrower slice. If you want one paid course that maps the whole QA job, this is the sensible pick. Developers who only want automation should look elsewhere.
Pros
- Covers manual, Agile, API, performance, SQL, and Selenium basics in one place, refreshed in September 2026
- Reviewers call the teaching clear and beginner friendly, with tidy slides and captions to help with the accent
- Hands-on Postman API projects, including a full CRUD cycle and a Trello APIs project
- Career sections on certification, CV writing, interview questions, and freelance testing sites
Cons
- Pace is quick and the accent takes adjusting, so some students rely on captions to follow along
- Breadth over depth: many tools get a taste, and a reviewer wanted more real projects to practice on
- Audio is low in places and a couple of reviewers hit a video that would not play
I really enjoyed this course; I felt it provided a broad overview of what it means to be a software tester. I recommend it to anyone who wants to get started or reinforce their knowledge of software testing.

There are many valuable information in this course. Automation testing will be hard to learn without previous knowledge of programming languages. However this course is still worth it.

By Adam Forisek on 2/25/2026
some of the questions might not be rightly worded, but all in all very concise and useful course. Makes the ISTQB material much more easy to digest. Quizes are good too! Can recommend

I’m about halfway through the course and so far I’m really enjoying it. The instructor explains the concepts clearly and it’s easy to follow, even for someone who is still learning software testing. The examples help a lot in understanding how things work in real situations. I’m especially excited to get to the parts about API testing and automation testing because those are the areas I’m most interested in. Looking forward to finishing the rest of the course and learning more.
By Madhav Saraf on 2/2/2026
The instructor is highly educated and has strong knowledge of the software testing field. He makes a genuine effort to explain topics in detail and provides good overall coverage of the syllabus. However, I found the pace of the lectures quite fast, especially for learners who may have difficulty understanding an Arabic accent. At times, the pronunciation is not very clear, which makes it challenging to follow the explanation without enabling closed captions or reading the transcript. Because of this, it can be hard to stay focused on the key topics you want to learn, even though the content itself is valuable. Additionally, the sound is very low on some videos, without headphone it will not be clearly audible in the level 40-50%. Since many learners are preparing for the ISTQB CTFL exam based on this course, I believe a few improvements would make it even more effective. Slowing down the delivery slightly and ensuring clearer pronunciation would greatly help comprehension. Additionally, using more inclusive design practices in the presentation slides (such as clearer fonts, better contrast, and structured layouts) would improve accessibility for all learners. Overall, the course has strong content, and with these updates, it could be an excellent resource for ISTQB CTFL preparation. Thank you!
