Course Description

Want to build real, production-ready data pipelines with two of the most in-demand tools in the modern data stack ? This all-levels, project-based course takes you from the basics to advanced workflows with Snowflake and dbt (data build tool).

With over 11 hours of content, you’ll not just learn the concepts — you’ll apply them step by step in real projects, including a Bitcoin blockchain data pipeline designed to mirror real-world challenges.

In this course, you will:

  • Set up and manage Snowflake environments (databases, schemas, stages).

  • Ingest data from local files, S3 buckets, and external sources.

  • Write modular SQL with dbt models, CTEs, and window functions.

  • Apply ELT best practices and build maintainable data models.

  • Use dbt contracts, versioning, and generic tests for reliability.

  • Set up CI/CD with GitHub Actions and key pair authentication.

  • Optimize Snowflake with caching, micropartitions, and clustering.

  • Prepare data for analytics tools like Power BI.

This course is packed with real-world use cases, code walkthroughs, and tips I’ve implemented in production environments. By the end, you’ll be confident in building scalable, maintainable data pipelines — skills you can immediately apply in your current role or future projects. These lessons are designed to give you both technical expertise and practical confidence when working with modern data tools.

Daniel Weigel

Hey! I’m Daniel, a data engineer who's worked with Snowflake and dbt across different industries and countries. I’ve helped companies set up Snowflake from scratch, managed accounts as an admin, and built entire data pipelines using dbt. I used to work at Microsoft, and I’m always learning—whether it’s through real projects or by geeking out at data conferences and events. I love breaking down complex topics into simple, hands-on lessons that you can actually use.

Creo que va muy por encima de los conceptos, me gustaria entender mas sobre que implica hacer una cosa u otra, que implicaciones tiene en costos, rendimiento, etc... Esta bien para ser un curso basico pero no me termina de convencer

The screen what instructor shows is very tiny in screen, it didn't clear on visuals, It's better if the snowflake window could be more zoom. the font size is very small.

I have always looked for a tutor who can teach me bit by bit and the explanation should be layman. You have covered many topics in the course and I have learned most of it, thank you so much. This is all I can say.

I appreciate the sometimes unpolished approach Daniel takes, where he includes mistakes - often ones that even an advanced user might occasionally make - and how to fix them. Even though I often saw the mistakes as he was making them and got annoyed that the lecture spent time fixing them, it was still a solid approach (and reminder that yes, we all make mistakes and it's important to know how to fix them).

A well-structured, well-designed course on Snowflake and dbt. Daniel has done an amazing job exploring many features, common errors, and practical tips. This is not just a series of topics rushed through to cover a checklist. It is a truly hands-on course, designed to help you dive deep and prepare for real-world projects.

Amazing Course. I came in as a complete Snowflake and Dbt noob and now I feel confident to start projects on my own! One note, though. In some videos I wish the screen was a little more zoomed-in. Sometimes it's so small it gets difficult to read and follow along

video clarity is very poor and voice is not clear Things made complex instead of simple Instructor video on right side down that cover lot of options when running screen create a simple diagrams what is going to do in each module that make very helpful to understand

Course is awesome, you put a lot of work into this. I will still need to do some work on SQL itself, but thank you for explaining how it all works, how to setup the project and all the stuff with git. It helped me a lot!

So far, so good. I’m currently in Section 6, and the course has been helpful for learning the basics of Snowflake and dbt. Overall, it’s been a solid introduction. My only note is that a few videos had low audio, which made them harder to follow. My main goal is to work toward the DBT Analytics Engineer certification, and since you mentioned you’re planning to release a course focused on that, I’d much rather take that course than go through the dbt Learn courses. Do you have an estimated timeline for when that course will be released?

This course is really good for a beginner of BDT, but with experience in traditional ETL tools as Informatica. I'm preparing for DBT Analytics Engineer certificate, just share my opinions of learning from non-python, non-github user perspective. And you might want to speed up putting your course on Udemy, as DBT Analytics Engineer certificate will be trendy very soon. 1. the project and explanation, steps of setup, go through and run dbt is well prepared, I can follow up and get it running. 2. bit of theory and how to structure a dbt project might be better.
