Though Isaiah 52-53 typically get the most attention, the entirety of Isaiah 40-55 should be revered as one of the greatest poems contained within the Bible. At the time it was written, Israel was in exile, living in ruins due to its own disobedience. Isaiah 40-55 tells its story, and how God chose to save Israel from its tragic state.

N.T Wright received his BA, MA and PHD from Oxford University. He taught New Testament at Cambridge, McGill and Oxford Universities 1978-1993. He was Dean of Lichfield, then Canon of Westminster, then Bishop of Durham (Church of England), 1994-2010. Since 2010 Prof. Wright has been Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at the University of St Andrews, Scotland. He has published over 75 books and hundreds of articles. Prof. Wright recently received the Burkitt Medal from the British Academy for services to New Testament scholarship. He enjoys writing, lecturing, mentoring students and an occasional round of golf. He delights in spending time with his family in the midst of a busy schedule of writing and traveling.

I really enjoyed this course as it gave me an Old Testament view/context for understanding the suffering of Christ and his followers. I liked that Wright's teaching was done in 15-minute sessions so I could better grasp "main points" within the overall context of Isaiah 40-55.

I took courses in scripture for my MDiv degree and I have taken non-credit classes as well. Additionally, I also had scripture courses in my DMin degree. I find your quizzes to contain trick questions. In my opinion, they do not enhance the study of scripture. They are aspects of the course that are unnecessary knowledge. I found them to be very irritating for someone like myself who does not have a Masters or Doctorate in scripture.
