Course Description

I've been teaching TypeScript since 2012 (since launch). While teaching Juniors as well as Experts, I gathered a few tricks to make it an easy and smooth learning experience. I share those experiences with you. The objective is simple:

  • You can feel confident about what TypeScript is and offers

  • You become a competent TypeScript / JavaScript developer

A lot of effort has gone into this course to make sure you get all the knowledge you need, as quickly as possible.

Why TypeScript

I've been teaching and working with JavaScript for the past 10 years. TypeScript is hands down the best way to learn JavaScript. Give a beginner JavaScript developer a workflow with the TypeScript compiler and they can actually learn stuff themselves thanks to TypeScript's excellent 1000+ compiler errors that prevent common mistakes.

Why this course

I'm a Microsoft MVP (Most Valuable Professional) for TypeScript thanks to my teaching contributions in the form of books, various videos and answers on StackOverflow.

This provides the best guidance possible for all the ways you can use TypeScript for your JavaScript projects to give you the most chances of success in your professional career. This course is based on my experience in that area and curated based on key workshop insights.

I wish to thank to Basarat for putting all his effort for this course. Most of his videos were clear-enough and helped me to get beyond the level I used to have so far. The only thing The instructor missed here, was to include the typical Congrats Video as well what other material could we check besides the current course itself. Another thing that I would appreciate to Basarat is, if the course coulb be updated to the latest version of Typescript, that is, the 7.0 version. Thanks.

I want to congratulate you for creating such an outstanding TypeScript course. It has had a huge impact on my understanding of advanced concepts like generics, constraints, and type inference. The explanations are clear, practical, and perfectly structured for real-world development. I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to truly master TypeScript from the ground up.

Excellent Course – A Must for Any JavaScript Developer! I just completed this TypeScript course and I'm genuinely impressed. The instructor did an outstanding job explaining complex concepts in a way that’s easy to understand, even for someone coming from a JavaScript background like me. The course is well-structured, with clear examples, real-world projects, and hands-on exercises that helped reinforce what I learned. I now feel confident using TypeScript in my own projects and finally understand the "why" behind its growing popularity. If you're a JavaScript developer looking to level up your skills, this course is a fantastic investment. Highly recommended!

As a beginner this course seems to be on a faster pace, and it is hard to follow the coding since it finishes before I try out the examples. It feels like the author is rushing through the material, and I have to re-watch almost all the lessons multiple times to understand what the author is trying to tell. I am forced to taking this course since it is a mandatory learning material that needs to be completed in my organization.

I revised my review from 5 to 3.5 stars after applying my knowledge professionally at work shortly after taking this course. Since this course doesn't offer key components for long-term learning - such as quizzes for building recall and projects practicing lessons, I wasn't able to recall and apply most of the material covered in this course, like I have been able to professionally for material learned in most other courses I've taken online, such as Epic React. I recommend buying a course that has projects and quizzes, so what you learn is retained, and your time is better spent. Minor caveat: the video in lesson 2 didn't show any visuals when it played, it was a white bar and grey background. I had to adjust my Chrome wide settings, to disable hardware acceleration, which negatively impacts what I do for work - web development, so I have to turn that on and off or use a different browser. I also recommend following along in the code. There are no quizzes or mandates to follow along, which means you must cement your learning via "action" on your own.

Excellent material and explanations! I'd suggest adding a new section that features a hands-on, full-fledged project. Specifically, it would be great to see a backend built from scratch that applies the most relevant and advanced concepts. It would be beneficial if it's entirely based on TypeScript and uses a library like tsynge (or simil) to build middleware compositions, utilize generics, and implement dependency injections. That would be fantastic! Cheers!

This course provides pretty much everything you would want to know about TypeScript with no filler. It is definitely drinking from the firehose at times. I have a strong background with OO programming and I was able to keep up for the most part, but some of the later stuff from the "Super" section will take a little work to get used to. That being said this was everything I wanted and I feel ready to tackle anything TypeScript.

Exactly what I was looking for. No "let's create a project with lots of stuff that you do not need to understand to learn just TS." I understand the value of such courses, but IMHO it is best to learn the language in the abstract completely before attempting to apply it to a framework-specific project. I work professionally with this language every day, and have for years. I have learned things in this course that I and my peers either just didn't know, or did not understand in such an articulated manner. Excellent, highly recommended.

the good: as a professional developer, I had no problem following along. His command of the English language is fairly easy to understand (coming from a native speaker) kept me engaged, there are entertaining moments "... makes us sad" "..very very cool" nice pop culture references bad: It can use a topic introduction in each video, a simple "This lesson is on Abstract Classes, abstract classes are used for ... ... ..." he goes directly into the discussion with a sometimes wordy setup which at this point (

It is an excellent course which teaches to write the good Typescript code right from the beginning. I strongly dislike other programing courses which teach basic first which leads to write mediocre code, then the advance later, which requires to reset the brain to write a better one. Why don't teach the right thing from the beginning to avoid building up bad coding habits. This is the course that you should take. It is one place that covers quite a lot of good coding practices and programing features of Typescript. You can achieve a similar level by reading various articles, books and time to gain such much knowledge and pro experience. The author provides coding along the way, it is easy and clear to follow. Enjoys
