Most AWS cost courses are a tour of Cost Explorer. This one spends its time on the part that actually determines whether you save money: governance, accountability, cost allocation, and who owns which number. The opening framing — that overspending is structural rather than accidental, caused by an old centralised CapEx operating model meeting a democratised consumption model — is the right lens, and the course keeps returning to it instead of drifting into feature demos. Strongest sections are commitments and tagging. The Savings Plans / RI material is precise about what each instrument actually locks you into, and the best-practice guidance is unusually honest: right-size before you commit, never buy ahead of demand, stay slightly behind. The tagging module includes the retroactivity gotcha — tags apply only from the moment they're set, so a resource tagged three months late shows three months of unattributable spend — which is exactly the kind of thing you otherwise learn the expensive way. The Budgets vs Cost Anomaly Detection distinction (static thresholds miss unusual spend that sits below them) is another detail that earns its place. It's also refreshingly candid about tool limits, noting Trusted Advisor is neither comprehensive nor always right. Two caveats. The slide deck has clear Azure lineage — several slides still carry "Azure Cost Optimization Masterclass" headers, and one PaaS/IaaS example set reads as ported rather than rewritten. It doesn't affect the AWS content, which is accurate, but the polish is uneven. Second, at seven hours the coverage is broad rather than deep: Cloud Intelligence Dashboards, Billing Conductor and CUR analytics get an orientation rather than a build-along, so you'll be reading AWS docs afterward for the hands-on part. The 25 demos and quizzes do a lot of the heavy lifting there. Best fit: cloud engineers, architects, and anyone standing up a FinOps practice or being handed a bill they didn't design. If you already run a mature FinOps function, much of this will be confirmation. If you're the person who just got asked "why is our AWS bill going up", it's well worth the seven hours.

An amazing course, very detailed, provided the slides so you can reference them later. What I would like to see in future videos are case studies and how a FinOps practitioner should approach an issue, and how to present the solution to stakeholders. Such as creating a cost model to help determine what needs to be adjusted.

Provides well-structured content on cost management and optimization in AWS. Hands-on demos are provided to complement the lectures, helping grasp the topics. The content isn't too heavy and theoretical: it can be watched at 2x the normal speed without loss. An accompanying slide deck is provided, for future reference. All in all, a productive and useful training.

This is a good starting point on FinOps. The demos are excellent. Additionally, providing instruction on how to navigate to tools like "Billing Conductor"; Even though we can google it, it will be nice to have it handy. some slides, say around 10 (may be more), are missing from the PDF titled "AW1 Course -Main Lecture Slides-for Students.pdf." Including these would be useful for a quick review to refresh. overall, it was a great course, and I look forward to seeing more courses on AWS from the author.

Great course content with deep diving and good practical demos. Was also presented in great and understandable format and speed. Would strongly recommend to anyone on FinOps AWS interested in better managing cloud cost. Same applies with Complete Azure FinOps Masterclass - course

Excellent AWS Finops course. I will take the Azure Finops course as well when I get a chance. Finops/Billing/Cost Management is complex topic and would be interested further videos (even longer time frame). However, this is an excellent course and should be sufficient for most who need to learn about Finops.

Pude sacar buenas conclusion del curso, pero me hubiese gustado que exista la traduccion al español y a veces se hacia un poco repetitivo con ciertos temas. la pronunciacion es perfecta para gente que no habla ingles como primera lengua.

Thank you Justin, for putting together this great class. As along time Technology Finance professional I've struggled with finding my place in the cloud having taken both the AWS cloud practitioner class as well which is more geared toward the technical SME. This class provides a broad enough view to see were finance, accounting etc. might engage or be value add like Tagging strategy, governance via CCOE and the concept of Cost being a requirement in all AWS work. Thank you once again this class. It has been tremendous help.

Great Course! I definitely feel more confident and comfortable leading AWS FinOps in my organization! Please expand the cost optimization section on cost optimization to include CFM playbooks and strategies that detail how to analyze usage and reduce costs.

Dear Justin, I trust this message finds you well. I recently completed your Udemy course, "Best Practice real-world cloud computing financial management optimizations to save costs in AWS Cloud with FinOps!!" and I wanted to share my thoughts and feedback with you. Positive Aspects: The course structure was well-organized, making it easy to follow the progression of topics. Your explanations were clear and concise, which greatly facilitated my understanding of complex concepts. The real-world examples and practical exercises were invaluable in reinforcing theoretical knowledge. I appreciated the supplementary resources provided, such as additional reading materials. Areas of Improvement: There were a few instances where the audio quality was not optimal, making it challenging to hear certain explanations. Suggestions: Consider incorporating more real-life case studies to demonstrate how the concepts covered in the course are applied in industry scenarios. Adding a dedicated Q&A section or discussion forum for students to interact and seek clarification on specific topics would enhance the learning experience. Thank you for creating such a valuable course. I look forward to exploring more of your content in the future.
