Our take
Based on the ratings of 108 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in January 2025. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a focused tour of Premiere Pro's Lumetri Color panel from William Buckley, running about 5 hours across 39 lectures. It starts with camera basics like white balance and the Kelvin range, then moves through the scopes, curves, color wheels, HSL secondary, LUTs, masks and matching shots. The listing mentions 15 follow-along projects with the clips included. It is meant for people who already know their way around a timeline. The description says plainly that it is not for first-time Premiere users or experienced colorists.
Reviewers like the teaching. Buckley comes across as calm, thorough and clear, and one student says he explains how to read the Lumetri scopes so it is obvious which tool to reach for. Another came away with a much better understanding of the scopes. The complaints are small. Two reviewers miss color theory, one found the video quality only average, and another noticed odd edits where lessons were patched after recording. Of 108 ratings, 98 are four or five stars.
The last update was January 2025, and the course asks for Premiere CC 2019 or later. Only 484 students are enrolled, so it is a small course next to the big names, but the reviews are consistently warm. Anyone who can already cut a sequence and wants a clear, practical route into correction and grading should be happy here. People after theory or another grading app should look elsewhere.
Pros
- Teaches the waveform, RGB parade and vector scope, then which Lumetri tool to use for what you see
- Calm, thorough teaching that reviewers say leaves nobody behind
- Follow-along projects with clips included, including a bad-shot fix and flat footage grading
- Covers white balance, curves, HSL secondary, LUTs, masks and shot matching in about 5 hours
Cons
- No color theory, which two reviewers specifically missed
- One reviewer found the video quality only average, and another noticed patched-in edits
- Needs basic Premiere skills first and is not aimed at experienced colorists
Very Knowledgeable, does a great job at not only showing and describing the right tools for the job, but also how to read the lumetri scopes to identify and assess what tools within lumetri color to use.
Suits Premiere users past the basics. Listed as all levels, but the course says complete beginners should start elsewhere.

I have been involved with training and making videos for 3 decades. I have created training programs and on demand video training since the only option was video CD’s!!
I have worked for Global companies to set up training programs that were all visually based training.
My learning method like a lot of people has always been visual. I always turn to "watching" how to do something vs "reading" about it.

I got what I expected from this course, no mind-blowing revelations, but the most important takeaway was a new understanding of foundationally where to start from with color correction and color grading and how that should be built in your project, and a much better understanding of the scopes and how to use them

Mr. Buckley is very informative and thorough in his lectures. He doesn't want anyone confused or left behind! If you're newish or kind of trying to break into being a lot more efficient and intermediate in the craft, I would highly recommend this course! I have no regrets!

Good course. It gave me the information I need to move my projects forward. Occasionally, there was some strange editing as a result of retrofitted changes, but nothing insurmountable.

I am only at the beginning of the course and I can already hear and see that I will learn a lot in a very clear and constructive manner. I usually have a sense of the value I will get from a course even at the beginning. I defiantly recommend this course to anyone who might be struggling to understand how to work with colours.

It's just an introduction and the instructor is very knowledgeable. However, I would prefer that we get right into the history of color so that we could get a better perspective on how we arrived where we are at today.

I gained a lot of knowledge from this course. If anyone is in a Dilemma whether to take this course or not. Do yourself a Favour by buying this course, if you don't know nothing about "Color Correction"!!

I was able to learn a lot, but the key was to practice on my own, on clips provided by the instructor. My objective in this course was towards forming my own judgement on color correction, with some guidance from the instructor. This course will be less helpful for someone who is looking for hand-holding. Hope this helps. Thanks and Cheers!

I really liked this course! It's a great a intro to color correction, especially the use of Lumetri Color in Adobe Premiere. I enjoyed the instructor's approach - calm, efficient, and informative. He gave me just the right amount of information to digest in short snippets and I'd highly recommend this to a colleague.

This course is not too long and not too short, but it's complete and full of tips about color grading and color correction. You fully understand the Lumetri color window and how to use the lumetri scopes. The white balance section is also handy, don't skip it.

Everything is so well explained. I learn a lot about color. I enjoy that course so much. By the way the beginnings of each lesson are beautifully made. He is a real master of color. Thanks for the course!
