Course Description
Master Unit Testing in .NET with xUnit v3 and Microsoft’s New Testing Platform
If you're a .NET developer aiming to write better, more reliable code, this second edition course is built for you. You'll dive deep into unit testing using xUnit v3 and Microsoft Testing Platform—the modern replacement for the legacy VSTest framework.
xUnit v3 is fully compatible with Microsoft’s new testing platform and comes packed with new features that make writing and running tests easier and more powerful. It's one of the most popular testing frameworks in the .NET ecosystem, and knowing how to use it is a must for any serious .NET developer.
In this course, we focus on practical, real-world .NET projects, including ASP .NET MVC and ASP.NET Minimal Web APIs. You'll learn how to:
Write effective unit tests using xUnit and MOQ
Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) in your workflows
Work with the latest versions of .NET and C#
We’ll also tackle more advanced topics:
Testing legacy code
Measuring code coverage
Evaluating the quality of your tests—because 100% coverage doesn’t always mean 100% confidence
And we go a step further with a module on security testing—showing you how to catch vulnerabilities that functional tests often miss.
To help you level up your career, we’ve included interview questions and answers related to unit testing and xUnit, so you can walk into your next job interview with confidence.

There are two issues in the PersonalPhotos project on GitHub 1. The web app fails to run because of missing dependency configuration this needs to be added to Program.cs: appBuilder.Services.AddScoped (); 2. the line that sets the user data into session has been removed in a recent commit, and because of it the login functionality doesn't work anymore LoginsController.Login method -> if (loginResult == UserLoginResult.Success) { httpContextAccessor?.HttpContext?.Session.SetString("User", model.Email); }

The audio had a strange behavior, sometimes it was ok, sometimes it was way too low, but, the course itself it's an excellent way to learn how to create tests, using both the packages the instructor teaches. I strongly recommend this course, even if you don't know a single thing about tests.

One of the best Unit Testing courses I have ever taken. Aref goes over each and every single thing. Different case scenarios, etc. I will definitely watch it again when I am creating a new application and follow these Unit Tests!!! Highly recommended instructor.

Yes. However, i would like to see a section about using NSubsitute as an alternative to Moq. The most recent version of Moq was found to harvest email addresses from the git history inside of your project. This is a security and user information issue for many companies and Moq is being blocked. Also, ReportGenerator is another great NuGet package for displaying test coverage. Highly recommended!

Covered all the basics I needed. There were a number of places where alternative code was presented on the screen and then removed, and it does not show up in the Resources. It would be helpful to include these alternate implementations in the Resources with at least references to the lecture in which they were presented, and a note on why they are not in the final code. They were good ideas, just replaced with better ideas, and all good ideas have merit.

The lecturer knows unit testing well and i like how he covers only what you need first then come back to it when it applies. the resources would be cooler if there were branches of the code per section eg. section_1_before and section_1_after, so the user can try follow along or do only the chapters they want. I'd like if the quiz at the end was sense checked as there are some errors atm. would also be nice is the quiz was a bit longer. was quite fun to have a code question

I really liked the course, it has many examples very well explained. It has everything you need to learn how to use xUnit at a good level. I highly recommend this course to C# and net core developers.

I learned everything I needed to start doing unit testing in my projects. Starting from basics to been able to share test data and mock dependencies. Great course! I am already using what I learned in production.

This course gives a good overview of testing with xunit, I did take away very useful tips and tricks. The english is despite the accent understandable and I didn't have any problems to follow along, however, it could help to watch with subtitles if your english skill is not that great. Here and there I would have appreciated more tips about best practices. I like that Aref shows coverlet, I would have liked that he also showed reportgenerator or better yet how to integrate it in Visual Studio. Maybe he could add that at some point. All in all I can recommend this course.

The curse was good, however it can improve. There are parts where the teacher jump of sequence. On the part of the Mock it seems that he is rushing and need to explain more in detail. Overall a good class
