Course Description
Welcome to my class on how to paint the peony in the botanical style!
I'll teach you overall principles and techniques so that you can apply them to other subjects of your own.
I'll demonstrate exactly how I sketch my peonies. Soon, you'll be able to sketch any peony that you desire!
I'll take you step-by-step to paint three large peonies and three smaller buds. And we'll be using a variety of styles to accomplish this: wet-on-dry, wet-on-wet, glazing, negative painting, layering, and more.
We'll use photo references for all but one of the peonies because I want you to have the creative freedom to paint how you want to paint!
Make sure to download my list of supplies in the class downloads. In addition, if you want to use my line drawing sketches for the class, you can find them in the downloads, too.
So grab your supplies, and let's paint together!

I’m Audrey, owner of and creative behind Audrey Ra Design (formerly Things Unseen Designs). I believe that everyone is creative. My mission is to spark the creativity in all of us.
I come from a family with creative roots. Both of my paternal grandparents were painters, my grandmother specifically with watercolors. My parents have a fondness for music and the arts. Growing up, I played classical piano, attended choir, and frequented museums.
When my grandmother passed away in May 2016, I wanted to honor her memory by bringing back the creative side in me. It started with the bullet journal (because I’m also obsessed with planners and being organized), then calligraphy, and then watercoloring. By the end of 2016, I wanted to continue on in this journey. And what you see now is the result of it.
I hope to connect with you in my classes!
Thank you, and let's make the world a more beautiful place!
Love,
Audrey

I really enjoyed this course, easy instructions and its not rushed. I am looking forward to painting more. Easy to listen to I actually give this class %100 . This is something that could be listened to over and over again.

I'm sure you know best, given your background, but to me, it would have been a good starting point to look at a photo of a peony and its basic structure. But truly, I'm sure you've tried both and there is a reason you do it in this order! It *was* fun to sketch right away

This course is perfect for everyone who already has some experience with watercolors, but needs to learn about drawing peonies. The instructor explains everything very clear and understandable. I really enjoyed this course.

It is something new for me. I realized that when I traced the flower, I do not need to be exact, just to draw the flower with a good proportion. Yes, I like it and gave me a better vision to draw and trace the flower.

I have enjoyed painting the flowers in the botanical style without so much perfection as some classes. It has loosened me up as an artist. Thank you

This course was so good! At the beginning I thought there was no way my paintings would look as good as the ones we were shown at the start but they did! It was great to slow down and learn the step by step sketching and paint techniques. You kind of just always assume some paintings have been done freehand with no process behind them but you are shown every step and a few different techniques :)

I learned a lot. I am finding that I love a looser style. I really like Audrey. I have followed her on instagram for a few years. She's a great teacher.

Wonderful experience. I am initiating myself in watercolors, and I bought the course. I learned a lot with these videos. The videos show in a slow manner, how to work with watercolors, which is not easy. Thank you very much for your time and dedication, the reasons that led me to buy another of your courses.

Truly outstanding course. Audrey explains and demonstrates a variety of techniques while you go through the course, and there is plenty of time to practice them. Audrey is a great teacher and is fantastic at giving you both the theory and the practice. She breaks everything down into manageable sections, so it is easy to follow and understand, no matter how tricky the subject matter is! Can't recommend this course enough, weather you are just starting or have been painting for a while!
