  7. Tips and tricks to overcome different project implementation challenges

Why Webdriverio?

It's becoming common to adopt to a Node.js based test framework in many organisations due to having "one team one language" concept where most of the modern web and backend services are built using JavaScript and Node.js and therefore there is a flexibility to extend unit tests and integrate with CI/CD pipeline seamlessly - For all these reasons, Webdriver IO is a great choice for automating integration/E2E tests.

WebdriverIO(also known as WDIO) is the established test framework for Node.js. It has got powerful runner that supports Cucumber, Mocha and Jasmine and loaded with many features that makes easier to use.

WDIO can be run on  WebDriver or Chrome DevTools Protocol - this means it has a full control over all browser elements to interact with. It is highly extendable that makes easier to automate E2E tests, not just web.

Is automating web application just enough?

It’s hard to find a project that just automates only web applications, the scope of automation is widen to integrate Web with API, database and files and even more. If this is what you are looking for, you have landed in the right place. This course is having everything you need to know to build an highly extensible integrated framework that can accomodate different applications components.

The content is very good but the English pronunciation is terrible, also several of sections show the screen blurred so, is difficult to see the text. These enhancements would convert this course in one outstanding

This course is ideal for anyone who wants to learn webdriverio with typescript. Everything is specified step by step. Trainer has not only explained the steps, but also reasoning behind it. He also brought up best practices that we need to implement while writing code. The course follows latest version of wdio which helps in staying upto date in the market. Overall it's an excellent course as it's pretty close to what we do in real work. Looking forward for some courses from author especially related to mobile automation.

Overall course was good, however, I couldn't make anything related to hooks and World class work. I believe these videos should be recorded again. It's not cool when the author just adds a new video on top of a few existent videos. Beyond being an overwhelming task, it hamppers our learning process.

My last impression is that the course is really good, the content is very usefull and complete. You can achieve a very good level of webdriverIO with this course. I have some problems at the beginning to understand the pronunciation of the teacher, but some lessons after I understand all quite good. I really appreciate the quality of the course over all and I think is one of the better courses about webdriverIO you can find in Udemy and in internet currently.

I have taken a lot of courses at udemy over the years and usually don't leave feedback. This is one of the best courses I have taken. The instructor is great and explains topics really well and all possible scenarios. Good communication and a clear calm voice.

Hey Instructor Hope you are in good health I just want to mention here that your teaching and tech skills are awesome I have learned many things from this course so far.. I have a request for you Can you please add advance level JS/TS in this course as well to improve automation skill in JS

By Juan Manuel Scagni on 4/22/2022

The course is a journey, super concise, super clear, with examples that one can apply in real cases, which is fantastic, since you can do the course with a different page than the one he is using. It is true that there are some lessons that are very long, but in general terms it is super complete, super practical, and it is one more that remains to be consulted when I need it.

One of the best course available for Webdriver/IO. In fact the only course which covers the topics in such great detail. Sharing data using world, context, logger, API, DB and git action integration are highlights of the course. Only thing I felt that we have used little too much of try catch (though I understand handling exception in important aspect of framework). general error also provide enough information to find where is the issue with file name and line number as well. Appreciate all your effort in creating this course.

Currently I am using JS based WDIO v6. I came here with the hope of learning new concepts in WDIO, CICD using pipeline, API integration..etc. Now I am in the process of migrating my project to TS with v7 and the instructor is very responsive clarifying my questions. I just went through 1/4th of the course and hoping the subsequent sessions would help me in achieving what I am expecting to learn. So far my experience with the course is outstanding.

A well-rounded course to start building a test framework from scratch. While the course uses the cucumber framework, the concepts are generalized enough to use with any node js test framework like jasmine, mocha, etc. A couple of concepts that I think the author should have included are - use cases of the puppeteer - CDP protocol - custom commands - logger in parallel runs - running tests on selenium grid in Jenkins (Most widely used by test engineers than github actions) CI/CD The above missing parts can be learned individually. I highly recommend the course to beginners who are getting started in Nodes JS Testing framework.
