Course Description

In this course we will go through the process of creating your own 2-D storybook-style "Point and Click" Adventure Game, including story, game world and character design, creating your own art assets in manipulable layers, animating your character, bone-rigging your 2D character in multiple angles for quick animating of an 8-pose walk-cycle.  We will also cover practices for creating original music for your game, voice acting and recording dialogue for your characters, and finally bringing all of your original assets together and programming them into a functional scene for an adventure game (in an artist-friendly programming environment).

You can follow along using the same software titles in the course, or apply the concepts learned to your own music and art creation software choices.

The software used in the course will be...

Adobe Photoshop: for background art and character creation.

Moho Studio Pro: for character animation.

Logic Pro X: for music and voice recording/ editing.

Adventure Creator Game Toolkit for the Unity Game Engine for bringing all of the game assets together and programming your game!  (Don't worry, you can program your entire game without needed to type out a single line of code, it is very artist friendly).

Additional Topics Covered:

Light music and art theory

Brief history of instrument sampling

Discussing effective hardware and software tools

This tutorial encourages me just to try to build a game with adventure creator - I have no experience with Unity or coding, but the teacher is guiding me in detail through the process and I think I will be able to follow along. It's amazing how he created this videogame and teaches all the required skills. The art of the class project is beautiful and inspiring - I really want to play his game!!! I just wish that he could show how to structure a videogame concept (with conversations, objects, scenes, detailed script etc.) before adding everything into adventure creator and what to consider to save time. Additionally, I wish he would show how to exchange objects during conversation, but I might expect too much of this already brilliant course. Thank you for this inspiring course.

The course is entertaining, but there are hours and more hours and yet more hours if video footage of the instructor creating all the assets in Photoshop and animating them, which is a huge effort from him, but also for us students if we want to repeat it. So yes, you learn by watching, but then you just see more hours of the same and don't learn that much until the new section. The way the instructor create assets is just too much effort, the animations and the art are just too much. I am sure there are faster ways to achieve similar results, especially when creating animated characters. I have not finished the course, and I like that you will learn a bit of a lot of different stuff, like Photoshop, Animations, Music Creation and Unity Adventure Creator, that is cool. But the learning is very slow since you have to watch hours and more hours of how things are created. I would prefer a more focused approach and also, I do think there are better ways to achieve the same, like animating directly in Unity instead of using third-party expensive software to rig the bones. But I am still watching so at least the videos are interesting!!

So far, I'm loving the content of your course. It is detailed and it is good to listen to the breakdown of the story telling aspect of an engaging game. In a game few games I want to develop, I've started intuitively. We all have had some sort of literary training as well in basic education, but this is a very good reminder and has new aspects of story telling I wasn't aware or didn't think about.

Isaac does a really great job with this course! He takes you through the step by step process of the artwork, gives some useful tips about level design, recommended tools and devices, and goes over audio in an engaging way. I especially loved the voice acting part, he's so good at it! Definitely recommend this course to whoever wants to make a game in this genre.

I wouldn't mind giving this course 10 stars/ 5 stars, unfortunately I can't. The course is the most comprehensive experience of Adventure Game Creation. It does not compromise on quality, sometimes going so deep into things, that you might feel ashamed for not paying more for the course. Great Job Isaac!

I give this guy credit there is a ton of education stuff in this class. I have to admit I skipped through sections I didn't care about. The one thing that annoyed me during the art section was constant moving of art canvas or zooming in. I know some of the stuff I will probably come back to at a later date when I need it. I have to admit I was just expecting Adventure Creator Application education. I am very glad I bought the class though. It is so thorough. There were so many things that are crucial for game development that I have never got anywhere else. Thank You.

The creator teaches in such a way, that even sections you would normally leave to others on your team - like art and music - he shows you how even a beginner can create something very nice. The voice acting section, I found magical and fascinating. He never glances over something and takes the time to instill a piece of information to the viewer. He is a teacher and is used to getting the point across. And the course pushes you the viewer to keep watching and learning and teaches you things you never knew you needed to know, if researching by yourself. Isaac provides insight and the knowledge needed to go out and start practicing for yourself. Everything you need to get started, all in one place.

I haven't finished this course yet even though I've had it for a while. It's a monster of a course and seems to cover every aspect. I enjoy the instructor's way of speaking and teaching so far. You get a lot of value for money, starting with how to come up with your story, character design, animation, designing and painting the backgrounds, and even how to make your own music.

The course was excellent, I did the free tutorials from Ice Box, but this really helped fill in the gaps. I was already experienced in Anime Studio Pro, but always had issues with walk cycles, this helped. He really does go into depth about mixing your own music, however having almost zero musical skills... Well, I did my best. Voice acting, etc. was mostly review for me, though he does have his own system for organization and if you are new it gives you a good framework to work with.

Teacher knows the tools and has the experience, but most importantly, he knows how to teach. Adventure creator doesn't have a very friendly learning curve, but he makes everything much more clearer than the official tutorial. He explains not only the basics, but the advanced features everyone wants to have on their games. Very satisfied.
