3 Little Birds with Colored Pencils (Udemy.com)

I enjoyed this course very much. It was very detailed and the instructions were clear. It was also fun and exciting as there were three birds to draw with different materials which I loved. It was a boost to my confidence and I definitely recommend it. I hope there are more classes like this in the future.

I enjoyed the instructive progression of all of the drawings as well as learning about the different colored pencils. I also learned quite a bit as I worked thru the 3 birds/papers. I had hoped to learn more about the papers used, why the instructor chose the particular pencils he used, why you might choose one type of paper over another and how to lay down the colors. There was clearly a difference light over dark and vice versa. Get that wrong and there is no highlights for you! Work books are great and so helpful.

There is so much material concepts here on the "Three Little Birds". On materials and how they respond to each other having different effects. I really like this course but one thing I'm learning really quick is "Slow Down and take your time." It makes a real difference on the final product of your drawing.

Very enjoyable, Matt is a great instructor although his diligent attention to detail can lead me to overwork an area..not having the same wealth of experience as he has. Another small gripe is that , as a beginner I do not have the very expensive materials which are used. Much although I value seeing the results, perhaps seeing the same picture done in entry/mid range material would be beneficial.

I love the detail and real time videos. The PDF tutorials are perfect, along with the reference photos - everything I need. I also really appreciated the exploration of both wax and oil based pencils, how to blend each, and the different surfaces. There was so much great content in this one, single course.

I have completed 2 of the 3 pictures and everyone is amazed at how realistic they look. Matthew does an excellent job at explaining how to use the pencils to achieve these pictures and more, as well as the differences between the types of pencils which is why I took the class. I completely recommend this class and Matthew as an instructor.

I like the instructor and his manner of presentation. Although technical difficulties are very annoying. Such as the Microsoft Edge browser keeps failing although both your site and Flash player have run permission. The program seems more stable using Internet Explorer but the right hand arrow to go to the next section appears just right of middle on the screen. Annoying.

I learned a lot about the different brands of pencils and the effects they can achieve. I do wish you would make a similar course using dogs as subjects. There are so many different types of fur and each presents its own challenges. You are such a good instructor I know you would be a big help to me in drawing my favorite animals - DOGS!

This lesson takes for granted that I’ve certain skills in place, which I do. I’m grateful I don’t have to go through basic learning to reach the more advanced skills. This doesn’t mean a total beginner won’t benefit, as the instructor is good at explaining what he’s doing, neither too basic nor too advanced. I’m new to colored pencil painting, so I’m here to learn how this medium is applied, so the three different kinds of pencil focus is just what this artist was looking for. I can take screenshots of anything I want to quick reference later, so watching on my phone is great. I can also cast the lessons to my large screen when it’s time to “paint along”. I really do appreciate his teaching skills, enabling any level artist to stretch. Thank-you Virtual Instructor and Udemy for affordable lessons.
