The Acrylic Painting Academy (Udemy.com)

The course is a misnomer. It definitely teaches painting, mixing colours, use of mediums etc. but Art Therapy is a different concept. I like painting but I joined this course thinking it will teach how to use painting as therapy.

I am new to painting, having only done a couple of oil based paintings. But, I have an interest in acrylics. This course helped me to understand much more about painting as a whole, as well as how to use acrylic mediums. I appreciate how subjects such as color theory and values, for example, were covered in this course. It has made me feel more comfortable in and confident in moving forward.

This course is exactly what I was expecting, and I am happy with what I discovered. I would certainly add two or three chapters. For example, I would like to see an exercise of how I can use the different brushes, and knives, in which circonstances, the effect I would be able to create with them, variation of textures, etc. And at the end, how to protect my painting... what kind of varnish I should apply, etc. Maybe for the next class. Anyhow, this is an excellent course.

I enjoyed the courses and learned alot. However, as we moved closer to the end I notice the instructor went pretty fast and in some cases did not allow time to work with him directly as before. I had to pause a lot; and wished I knew more about where the instructor was going during these times. I did learn so much more than ever before about the paint, tools, etc. He just needs to allow us to follow along without leaving us behind. I did not get discouraged. I continued through. Thank you for offering this. The price was excellent.

In the glazing section of the course the artist uses paints that we were not advised to have at the start of the course, such as burnt sienna and cerulean blue. I would have bought them had the intro materials section advised it. I tried to create my own substitutes but the resulting glaze was not a success. I struggled to achieve the cool background and warmer foreground. I also used too much paint in my glazes. It is a shame as my underpaint went really well. I would say that the course is not really for beginners either as it started with a very challenging still life. More time should be spent showing us how to mix colours carefully including amounts used clearly. I can't fix my glazed painting either which is a shame. I think beginners need to apply a glaze to a much simpler painting to begin with, to prevent a piece of underpainting which took so long to create from being ruined.

Well organized, nice production value... In Module 2, could have emphasized Payne Gray and Burnt Umber... and adjustments to to color of the cube plan could have been better explained

This class is great as it starts with the basics and covers every thing a new artist needs to know. I wish I had found this class a year ago. At least I now understand which brushes do what, how to prepare the Under painting to have a professional looking piece.

Easily explained and very easy to follow. Good examples of different painting styles.

I started this course with not even the slightest idea of where to start on my painting journey. Two courses in and I feel confident enough to go down to the paint store and get the supplies I need.

It was worth learning. Plus I didn't not know, there was a difference in abstract Art....Thank you
