Course Description

Welcome to the BEST & ULTIMATE Guide you'll ever find on 3D Character Rigging for Beginners in 2026!

(( Side Note: Everything taught in this course is applicable to all 3ds Max versions ))

Stop struggling with "bad deforms" and "broken bones." Master the art of professional 3D Rigging in 3ds Max.

Rigging is often called the "dark art" of 3D animation. It’s the bridge between a static model and a living character. If you’ve ever felt frustrated by messy skinning or confusing constraints, this course was designed specifically for you.

In this project-based masterclass, we skip the fluff and dive straight into the workflows used by professional technical artists. You won't just follow steps; you will understand the logic behind every bone and controller you place.

What You Will Master:

  • The Fundamentals: Understanding the 3ds Max rigging environment and coordinate systems.

  • Bone Architectures: Building robust skeletons for humanoid and stylized characters.

  • IK & FK Systems: Creating seamless switches for realistic arm and leg movements.

  • The Art of Skinning: Professional vertex weighting techniques for smooth, natural deforms.

  • Custom Control Rigs: Designing intuitive shapes so animators (or you!) can move the character with ease.

  • Mechanical vs. Organic: Learning the different approaches for hard-surface robots vs. flexible characters.

Why Choose This Course?

  • Practical Projects: No theoretical lectures. We build rigs from scratch.

  • 2026 Industry Standards: Updated workflows compatible with the latest versions of 3ds Max.

  • Zero to Hero: Designed for absolute beginners with no prior technical knowledge.

By the end of this course, you will have a production-ready character rig and the confidence to tackle any rigging challenge in 3ds Max.

Like his pervious course I've taken, Anass Cherkaoui not only refers to the technique he's using with the true term but also a more simple to understand term or phrase making complicated processes sound simple enough to grasp and helps to ease you into the exorcise. Due to his unique teaching style you dont even really have to be working along side him but just watch what he's doing, absorb knowledge, try it out for yourself, and then double back if you want to try to 'test' yourself. I truly believe his classes are the best way for someone like me to learn something as complicated as 3d rigging. I went from his short 'crash course' video that was 2 hours long to picking up all of his extensive in-depth videos to learn more and more and to be exposed to more tools and techniques because it was so easy to follow along with him. I cannot recommend these courses enough honestly, even if you have a passive interest in what all goes into rigging getting the 2hr course goes a LONG way.

We had done some rigging in class but I didn't do very well and was kind of scared of it (and skinning) for years. This course was perfect for bringing me back in the game. I'm not interested in rigging as a career, but I get asked about it as a supplementary skill, now I can happily say I know a thing or two! Thank you so much!

It is a very understandable and informative training. The teacher has a lot of information about the subject. However, there is a situation where the teacher needs to change. The way the teacher speaks is for young children, and as I progressed it started to bother me.

Bonjour Ce cours correspond parfaitement à mon besoin et Anass est un formateur très pédagogue qui prend le temps de tout détailler avec enthousiasme. En partant de 0 ou avec une initiation très basique il est possible avec lui de progresser en restant motivé. Super formation!

I'm intermediate but this course was too for beginners. I would be grateful if you could make a more advanced course, such as a slightly curved, scale rig commentary. However, I am grateful that some useful tricks have been obtained and reviewed. Buy if the desired course is sold!

Thank you Anass Cherkaoui for this wonderful course . I was able to follow this course without much difficulty and now i have a solid foundation on rigging in 3ds max . I would totally recommend this course for those who are just starting out in rigging , I had a wonderful time learning and I hope you make more courses like this in the future.

Thank you so much Anass, this is by far the best course in 3d, I have read many books like (3ds Max 7 Bible) long time ago, (Polygonal Modeling, by mario russo) and other books in 3ds max, and I have watched on YouTube many video tutorials on the subject, but all of them were not sophisticated enough or well explained. This was great, and your way of explaining shows a great talent in delivering the information. Video and sound quality is good, your categorizing of the videos are well done, and you covered all what I need on the subject. I can't wait for the other course that you created in this site. Thank you again, and I wish you the best.

I have been using Udemy courses for over a year now and picking up more skills in 3D design and game engine development. This course is one of the best I have been through, I am picking up and feeling pretty great about working in 3DS Max. The author has a great cadence and clear instructions. Fantastic!!!

By Karl Raade on 7/10/2018

If you have to begin a tutorial at such a fundamental level as, "This is called software. This is called a menu" then your audience is far too inexperienced for character rigging. For now I'm waiting for it to get interesting.

By Samuel Ochoa Cortes on 6/2/2018

Es una tutorial muy completo y muy bien explicado, desde lo mas sencillo hasta lo mas complejo, un gran trabajo de explicación de cada detalle y para mi fue un gran regalo el plus de rigging facial con morpher, agradezco por haber creado esta clase.
