Aloha! I have been dancing hula for over 25 years, performing for about 23 years and first began teaching about 15 years ago. I competed and won an NPC fitness competition, and then became a personal trainer, certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I have been a nutrition coach for about five years, and I earned a bachelors in nutrition science. I love teaching people how to make healthier choices to help them fit and be happier.

Totally missing explaination on the different movements
I had to move over to youtube on multiple occasion, ended up spending more time practicing the moves on youtube then here
For almost everymove i had questions after the demonstration... i easily found some hula dancers on youtube explaining much better, giving details on the weight distribution, arms movements and foot position
Also, what i loved about her intro was that she said she would explain every mouvement's meaning but she did not, for 2 whole verses we have no idea what the song and motion means...
i also realised that there is some sort of more official traditionnal way to dance to this song on youtube, everybody seems to dance to this song to another more official way i guess, even kids and elders on youtube... so i am pretty disappointed to realised i spent so much time learning the less-official choreo because i would rather dance the official one with natives
also the subtitles are just not working in english
also she never answered to questions on her page, year ago.
im glad it made me discover really amazing hula youtubers

Good basic introduction to hula. I plan to practice hula for exercise. I appreciate the beautiful dance movements as I am also a dance student.

There is a solid break down of beginner moves and steps which really helps build a foundational knowledge of hula dance. The background information helps build a greater cultural understanding of the art, which I believe adds to the overall experience of the course. She breaks down each step clearly and provides a helpful pace for students to follow along.

A lot of fun! Koa makes it look simple and the way she takes her time to show the moves it turns out to be simple. Fun to put it all together. I enjoyed it and will be using what I learned when I visit Hawaii at the end of May. I will also continue after that as it is a great exercise. Thank you Koa!

This course was so fun!! I was always too embarrassed to try to learn hula in a class, but learning at home with this course was easy, fun, and not intimidating at all. SO great for beginners and more experienced dancers. She's such a beautiful and talented dancer, I think people of all experience levels have something to learn from her. Wonderful course!!
