For years I've been teaching Ableton Live in the college classroom. As a University Professor, my classes are sought after, and, frankly, expensive. I believe Ableton Live can be learned by anyone, and cost shouldn't be a barrier. This class uses the same outline and syllabus I've used in my college classes for years, at a fraction of the cost.
This is a segment from Part 1: The Basics & The Interface.
I will be making 7 (seven!) complete classes in order to bring you the most comprehensive manual on Ableton Live production techniques ever created. Each class has Sets, sessions, and experiments for you to try on your own and follow along with.
And of course, once you sign up for this class, you automatically get huge discounts on all the upcoming parts (the other 7!) of this class.
You will not have another opportunity to learn Ableton Live in a more comprehensive way than this.
J. Anthony Allen is an Ableton Certified Trainer and a Ph.D. in Music Composition and master of Electronic Sounds. His music has been heard internationally in film, radio, video games, and industrial sound, as well as the concert hall and theater.
He currently is an adjunct professor of composition at the University of St. Thomas, Macphail Academy of Music, and the CEO of Slam Academy in Minneapolis.
Praise for other classes by J. Anthony Allen:
"Dr. Allen does it again with his music theory for electronic musicians series. This course really opened up everything I learned from the 1st section and now I understand more about the composition side of things for music. I highly highly recommend this course to anyone!!! Really opened my eyes to many things I wasn't aware of."
"The Best Teacher Ever, who makes you understand the ins & outs of Music Theory by all mean without giving what you don't want to know."
"I have never had any formal training in music at all. Trying to learn all the notes and how everything translated was a serious challenge. After going thru this class, Dr. J has totally brought down the barriers. The content was very useful and was easy to grasp for me."

Soooo…I have Ableton 10 and didn’t notice that this was for 9. I still got a lot of valuable information from it though. It’s helpful, for me, to see step by step instructions, which is what this is.

This Introduction fails miserably. One of the first thins I would want to do as musician using a music production software, is to make a sound. the instructor goes through some of the interface but it is meaningless, because I still cannot make any sound by connection my keyboard

This is great stuff. I’ve been using Protools for many years, but I want to dive into creating loops for live and making music in other platforms. I really appreciate the work of Dr Jason Allen that I’m going to take all of his courses, related to music or music technology for real. I discovered Udemy recently and it’s a great way to improve in whatever endeavor passionates you. In my case music in my most dear passion.

I feel the instructor is very knowledgeable and passionate about his work, however, as a new comer I found that I couldn't follow where he was going at all times. My main interest is in using Ableton as a musician on stage (hence live) but there was no indication at the beginning whether this would be addressed in the course. I would have liked to know more about the uses of Ableton live and then be able to select those lectures that focus on my area of interest. I will persevere with the course and maybe have the chance to alter this review later.

Very clear and simply explained lessons. I am not far into this course but the way the teacher explains everything grabbed my attention and attracted me into trying this DAW more than FL Studio for example.

It was exactly what I was looking for. Well communicated, comprehensive knowledge about the system. Ableton is hard to get into at first so this is perfect for a person that already understands music, but isn't so hot on music tech

Excellent class on Ableton Live. Whetted my appetite for more. I have the Lite version of the software which is limited in some aspects but nothing that kept me from following along w/ J in this class. I'll be signing up for some more of his classes on this powerful software package. Thanks a lot!!!!

Having watched J's introduction tutorial, I have immediately signed up for the full course. I have watched others, but J seems to put a lot more enthusiasm and interest into the sessions keeping the audience focused and engaged. He obviously has a vast and extensive knowledge of the subject matter and teaches it with a passion.

I love Dr. Allen. He is spot on. I mean to the nine. Special to the fact that he uses one of the best and sometimes, most comical analogies to explain the content. Simply gratifying and amazing! Go ahead start off here and get the entire Ableton course library. You will thank yourself later.
