Advanced Scala and Functional Programming (Udemy.com)

It was the most demanding course that I have taken on Udemy. I've learned a ton and the course itself is overall great, however, some of the exercises were frustrating due to unclear / ambiguous instructions. The tasks were very challenging at times and additional unclarity in instructions were adding unnecessary frustration. I would give 4,75 stars if it was possible :D and rating it for 4.5 is not fair due to the large amount of knowledge and effort put by Daniel, so I'm giving 5 starts :)

Great course. I insist that more exercises are needed to really feel confortable around this very difficult subjects but in conclusion a good course. Just take into account that you'll certainly be frustrated, that's unavoidable. So take a break and rewatch the lessons that are difficult to you and don't run in your learning, this takes time.

Amazing course. Its really difficult to find such easy to consume content of these advanced Scala topics. Thanks to Daniel for putting this together. It provides a solid ground to explore and use these Scala and FP features on your own. The one thing missing is coverage of some FP concepts, like Monoids, Semigroups, Functors etc. along with their use cases. Additionally a project type exercise at the end to tie most, if not all the concepts taught will well and truly make this an excellent course.

Another great course by Daniel! I was not expecting anything else after completing the beginners course. One caveat: I find Functional Concurrent Programming section not as strong as others. On Udemy there are more comprehensive courses on concurrency and multi-threading. In a practice example @volatile is mentioned as equivalent to synchronized(), but it is not so. Still the course is a brilliant! I look forward to watch more from Daniel.

Advanced Scala having complex concept which is difficult to grasp without enough experience or efforts. Concept is difficult to be explained or expressed in words, lecturer has done it quite well although not perfect. I think there are still room to improve especially on the Variance section, my suggestion is to make it more methodical approach with clear reasoning step on the covariant, contravariant and invariant position.

I am passing my comments after completing the whole course ! This course is well designed and every part is explained with coding. Interesting part is that the course gives you addiction to watch what is next to learn like to see Breaking Bad series and we get addiction, woooow what is going to happen in next episode !!! Still I would suggest one thing, there should be one section where we develop small application that makes a further clear picture where and when to use the learned concepts. Thanks Daniel !!!

Really great course, definitely not recommended for a beginner since you won't understand the contents, or you'll forget about them as soon as the course is over and can't apply them in real world scenarios. I went through with this course when I was starting scala, and thought I understood it. Now, 6 months later, I'm going through it again and I'm again learning a lot of stuff, but have actual sense of what things I can do better and what Daniel is actually talking about! Definitely recommended, only hope Daniel makes a Cats course too.

Very broad course. I believe that now I am inside the Universe Scala and I could understand many of the concepts and peculiarities of the language. The teacher has knowledge of the subject, is a very nice person, didactic and sincere. However, now I know a lot, but I do not know where to start applying such knowledge. I missed a practical project mirroring real life, applying all knowledge to something that had Start, middle, and end.

As an experienced Scala developer, I can safely say that Daniel covers the material very well, in particular in important areas that are essential for using more advanced frameworks that depend on these critical features, such as implicits and type classes. Daniel, wastes no time, focusing purely on running, working code. Looking forward for a "Very Advanced Scala" course!

Learning scala from scratch with same instructor(started from part 1 scala). I have coding experience in Java. I think it is a great course and I'd pay even more for it, as I know what to expect from Daniel's materials now. Selected this particular instructor based on 5 star reviews. I like lots of practical tasks that challenge and motivate you. Thanks for the great work, Udemy is definitely lucky to have classes of such a high quality!
