Our take
Based on the ratings of 1,588 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in August 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
Paul Ashun's course is a short, free primer on the Scrum Product Owner role. It runs about 35 minutes across 20 lectures in four sections, with no quizzes, exercises or certificate. It covers the Agile mindset, Product Owner basics, and a handful of principles for managing a Product Backlog. Despite the title, it is mostly a Scrum Product Owner talk, and that is the first thing to know before starting. It suits people new to Agile who want the vocabulary quickly.
Reviewers mostly call it clear and easy to follow. About 1,300 of the 1,588 ratings are four or five stars, and the teaching gets credit for being plain and easy to understand. Newcomers say it gave them a usable picture of the PO role and how Scrum fits around it. The complaints are consistent. Several say it is not really product management, and one reviewer felt it blurs Product Owner, Product Manager and Scrum Master. Others found it repetitive or thin, and one said the slides would not load in Edge or Chrome.
As a free course, it asks for very little. It was last updated in August 2026. Expect a refresher, not training: one reviewer said absolute beginners would need further study, and another felt it added nothing beyond free YouTube videos. It is worth a half hour if you are about to join a Scrum team or want to check what a Product Owner does. For product strategy or a recognized credential, look elsewhere.
Pros
- Short enough to finish in one sitting, about 35 minutes over 20 lectures
- Reviewers say the Product Owner role is explained in plain, easy-to-follow terms
- Free, with a recent update in August 2026
- Useful for developers and QA staff who need to work alongside a Product Owner
Cons
- Title promises product management, but reviewers say it is mostly Scrum Product Owner content
- No quizzes, exercises or certificate, so nothing to practice or show
- Some find it thin or repetitive, and it blurs Product Owner and Product Manager roles
Yes a good match, new to product management and giving clear information on product management that anyone new to it could follow.
Listed for all levels, but it really suits Agile newcomers; absolute beginners may need follow-up study.

What is an Agile Product Manager / Scrum Product Owner ?
An Agile Product Manager uses Agile principles to work with teams and deliver products in small increments. This gives the business early return on investment and the ability to adapt to a changing market. In Scrum teams the role is carried out by the Scrum Product Owner.
Agile is a mindset and an umbrella term for a set of related methods and frameworks that help us to deliver projects on time and more efficiently. Scrum is the most popular Agile framework. Based on my experience, it is the number one framework used to deliver projects on time!

For a newbie, who wants to know the high level BG of POs and Scrum, can take this course for sure to understand the life cycle. Also to mention the points plotted are really efficient and easy to understand, alongside the Tips, ownership titles are really worth enough for who is really preparing for the interviews. Yes guys, give it go. All the Best! Thanks for the wonderful course.

For a brief summary/overview it did include some salient points that most people can action/reflect upon. I thought it was a worthwhile course/refresher.

I'm more consciously aware vs unconsciously aware.... Thanks!

Good course. The title suggests being focused on the Agile general theory, where, in reality, a great deal of it is centered around Product Owners and for Product Owners, but the theory is also there. I'd love to see something like that for IT employees.

it was good enough and gave me the basic idea of what i need to be a good participant in Scrum also to know how to support my project owners and scrum master

This is the third course from this author that I listened to and while the first 2 were really abstract and not useful in real life, this one does give pretty good guidelines on how to be a good product owner.
By Christoph Amthor on 2/11/2022
The lecturer is very knowledgable, good value for a free course. It would be nice to get more real-life examples, how to decide the length of a timeframe (since it is boxed forever), and to know the task of a scrum master.
By Lakshmi Gayathri Govindarajulu on 1/8/2022
An informative course for beginners. Serves as a basic intro to scrum guide, sum principles and overall scrum practices. What is agile for a PO
