Anthony Alicea

Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, now married and living in upstate New York, Tony is primarily focused these days on trying to be a good husband. While inexperienced at that, he's quite experienced in all things web.

Tony has been programming since he was 12 years old, and got into web sites and web application development at 16. After graduating with a Computer Science degree from Case Western Reserve University, Tony continued with that interest as a software application developer and architect, database designer, and user interface designer.

His 25 years of experience has ranged across technologies such as modern semantic HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular, Vue, Node.js, SQL as well as user experience design, usability testing and more.

He believes strongly that deeply understanding any topic allows you to properly learn it and, even more importantly in a real-world environment, quickly overcome problems.

He also has a deep interest in human nature and behavior, and how that impacts human-computer interaction. This interest translated into extending his career into user experience design and usability research.

Another link in the chain is his 25 years of experience in public speaking and teaching, both in front of large groups and as a one-on-one private instructor.

I like the general overview. Need more specifics to my position

By Tami Schultz on 9/3/2026

I took a previous course with Tony - JS the Weird Parts. As in that one, this was an excellent look behind the scenes at how AI generates its responses. By understanding the random nature of the response process and how to write prompts with the detail you might give a junior developer, I expect to have a much more enjoyable process learning to use AI for both generating images as well as writing developer code. The 4 factors Tony discusses, in combination with his specific examples at writing prompts were extremely helpful in providing insight on the most effective way to write prompts. The 3 role play opportunities helped cement the concepts the course presented. The course also was helpful in explaining the jargon associated with AI. Thank you, Tony!

the course was easy to understand and made some great points. The practices and role playing was tedious and took too long.

By Kristie Yorkston on 7/29/2026

Extremely good information in a format that makes it digestible. The activities at the end of each section really helped to solidify the concepts and the role plays at the end is a great method of teaching - teaching a topic helps you understand the topic better.

By Adrian Blackie on 6/26/2026

The course was clear and informative, however I found one of the roll plays difficult due to the nature of it not being part of my own job roll. Overall, most important part for me was understanding how AI worked, it's functions and limitations.

By Alokranjan Nayak on 6/24/2026

I found that LLMs are helpful and fast, but they can make mistakes. This experience taught me to double-check important information instead of relying on them completely.

By Isaiah DoyleMacDonald on 4/9/2026

Incredibly informative course. Very much appreciate how much it grounds the learner with AI's limitations and by mentioning the dangers of failing to practice key skills. Would reccomend this for anyone that needs to utilize AI in the workplace.

By Cynthia Kindell on 4/7/2026

Love the way the course is laid out and the material is presented in a way that is very easy to understand and comprehend.

By Zach Olson on 1/15/2026

I've taken several of your courses over the years and your ability to break down complex topics clearly and thoughtfully continues to stand out. Thank you.
