Our take
Based on the ratings of 289 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in November 2021. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a short course from ClayDesk E-learning, taught by Syed Raza, that promises a tour of AWS QuickSight, Glue, Athena and S3 in just 3.3 hours across 26 lectures. In practice it leans hard toward QuickSight, with visualization basics, data import from S3 and a look at the QuickSight interface taking up most of the runtime. It suits data or business analysts who are brand new to AWS BI tools and want a quick orientation, not a deep build-a-pipeline course.
Reviewers who came in expecting a light overview are happy. Several call it a good, easy-to-follow introduction, and more than one says it is one of the few courses on Udemy that even touches AWS Glue. The complaints cluster tightly: lectures are ordered oddly, jumping between hands-on demos and concept explanations, and several sections repeat the same material. More than one reviewer points out the course title oversells it, since Glue, Athena and S3 get comparatively little screen time next to QuickSight.
At 3.3 hours it is one of the shorter, cheaper ways into AWS QuickSight, which works if all someone wants is orientation before poking around the AWS console themselves. The course was last updated in November 2021, and a couple of reviewers flag outdated dashboards and an unresolved bug report from 2022. Fine as a first pass at QuickSight; look elsewhere for real coverage of Glue, Athena or S3.
Pros
- Quick, easy-to-follow intro to the QuickSight interface
- One of the few Udemy courses that touches AWS Glue at all
- Short at 3.3 hours, so it does not demand a big time commitment
- Includes sample data sets to follow along with
Cons
- Lecture order jumps between demos and concepts, which confuses some students
- Athena, Glue and S3 get thin coverage despite being in the title
- Some sections repeat material, and a reported bug went unfixed for a year
Makes a complex subject matter simple. The ordering of the lectures is jumbled & confusing but well-delivered
Listed as All Levels, but really fits complete beginners to AWS BI, not analysts wanting depth.

Short, simple overview. Highly recommended for a AWS introduction.
By Henrique Moraes on 9/23/2021
Many lectures were repeated. The same concept was done or explained multiple times. It does provide the fundamentals to the matter, but does not get in depth and does not give a proper idea of how to build a real production pipeline
By Nahuel Verdugo on 7/21/2021
The course is not updated, some topics get repeated several time, the name of the course is confusing as it talks mostly about QuickSight and there are few concepts explained about S3 or AWS Glue.
By Deb Wright on 4/28/2021
I liked the approach to this course, with a good overview of QuickSight, Glue, Athena & S3. I thought it was interesting that the how-to and core concepts were saved until the end, but in this case, I thought it was effective to have familiarity with the products beforehand.
By Tatiana Wilson on 4/12/2021
Easy to follow instruction helped me understand more the capabilities of Quicksight.
By Anonymized User on 12/29/2020
So far it seems to be a good match. I came to AWS after the updates to AWS had been instituted but I like the fact that the instructor is keeping this course updated.
By Tarek Derbal on 9/21/2020
I learned well about Glue,S3, Athena and Quick Insight flow Thank you.
By Avinash Reddy Mudireddy on 10/24/2019
The course is too basic. Did not go into the details of main topics of the course. Covered only basic topics which are mostly available on free amazon documentation.
By Richard Seldon on 4/25/2019
Makes a complex subject matter simple. The ordering of the lectures is jumbled & confusing but well-delivered & in some ways the confusion forces you to work things out for yourself. This amplifies the learning experience.
By SaifulRizal MuhdRamli on 4/8/2019
I think the first 2 sections was an excellent overview. Some of the later sections I skimmed some parts because it was covering relational and BI technologies I knew already. Also I think the course can be improved if the instructor had given actual lab sheets to practice the concepts.
